Well lets see how random this is. Im expecting extremely random if im honest. So lets go see if the most recent of Super Mario is good or just meh.

This is why i go to adult evening screening of kids films. the 5:10 wasnt that full (film had been out for a week already) but the family in front of my kept getting up & down & moving about. I actually moved seats 20mins. I was like nah no thanks.

Trailers, Fast X(yes) Guardians (yes) Elementals (yes) & i cant remember what the other one was, thats really bad i know im sorry.

& then the film started… well that was not as crap as i thought that was going to be, but there were still moments where i was like say what.

I had no idea until about 3 weeks before the film came out that Jack Black was in this film & that he was Bowser, & then i saw him in the onesey & i was like okay im more up for this now, show me what youve got movie. & i didnt know what Peaches was either. & then half way through the film he starts singing the Princess Peach song. & i could not stop laughing. A kids film basically got a PG version of Fuck Her Gently half way through the movie. Everyone else in the film was just laughing at the song but i was sitting there full on belly laughing, wondering if hes about to order her food from Zanzibar. That moment & Jack Black as Bowser stole the entire film & added an extra star to my rating of the movie. That song is still in my head now.

Rainbow Road… yes yes yes. I mean i get why they did it. It was cool to actually see that happen. But it was more a chase & battle that a race. I kind of wanted the screens to be split so then you could see different things going on. Does that make sense. I wasnt it from other points of views. Yes i get this is an animation, but i wanted it to be more like Mario Kart.

Im glad there were some game levels & you saw Mario train, i loved that. It was very cool especially the one of him & donkey kong side by side, that felt right. Also Seth Rogan! hes becoming the surprise appearance in movies this year isnt he. Matt Damon & Chris Evans had better watch out hes coming for your random appearance crown.

I liked the TV advert, it was a shout out to the 90s mario movie that was pretty cool.

I wanted more Boo, not gonna lie, saw them twice in the movie & that was about it. I get we have alot to fit into this as a kids movie but as someone who always played as Boo, i missed them. Also saving someone for mid credits… nahhhhhhh i wanted more than that. We needed more than just the additional we got for all of 10seconds like the koopers & penguins & gumbas.

This is a kids movie, it is, & i was expecting a few more life lessons. Some of the morals were basically, just keep going, but when thats not the case, they should have stopped. I wanted a few more that what we got from this film.

Its not the best written or well planned out movie which is a shame. I wanted a little bit more. Considering how well written some kids films are & that they get nominated for Oscar, this was not the best, oh no.

It really just was a big happy shiny pretty movie if im honest. Kids are going to love it, & it does a little bit of fan service for the rest of us, but i think if they do make more of these, they will keep it in a formula to this & wont cater to us original gamers of Mario, like they did with Sonic in the second film.

Theres potential for sure & you can go & watch worse kids films oh yes, but this is perfect for a sing song about Peaches & a few jokes but thats about it. It just needed a bit more love thrown into it & i would be raving about it.
