Well at least i dont have to see the trailer for this now. Its time go see the cool stylish spy film thats been advertised a lot at the cinema, unlike black bag which went under the radar which was incredible. So lets see how this ones goes. Ive already had 3 people message me asking if ive seen this yet but i havent.
Part of me was like do i go see this, it had been a really long day at work & i was like do i need this, but as soon as i arrived at the cinema i was like im in my happy place nothing can go wrong. Turns out a few other people were there too. Id say a third full & id say mainly people in their 30s or 40s were there watching this.
Trailers, Sinners (bring on friday) Mission Impossible, Thunderbolts & the accountant 2. Yea that was exactly what i was expecting for this films trailers.
& then the film started… The was the most safe not pushing the edge spy film i have ever seen.
So after a decade of doing this properly ish (if you want to call this that) maybe this is the point where if i had seen this back in 2015 or 16 id have been like thats a strong film, its got a good twist it builds well, its not all about action. I get why it ends like it does but it just made the rest of the 2hours before it a little bit of an anti climax.
The trailer had the clever ways of killing all the bad guys in the films & i was like oooh we are going to get so many more & its going to be clever & im going to be shocked & freaked out, & there were only maybe 2 more spots that werent in the trailers. I felt robbed. I wanted more. Also the trailers started to show how they happened so it wasnt that much of a shock when it happened on screen.
Remi, your not exactly an action hero mate, im sorry your not. I get that he wasnt going to beat the crap out of people but he could have used his skills so much better & been even more of a keyboard warrior & plotting as he could.
I wanted to be on the edge of my seat, wondering if he would get close to being caught, jump at some shock revelations or betrayals, but i ended up being more invested in the CIA hunting him down & being crap them hum hunting down the people who killed his wife.
How coincidental that they had so many angles of his wife’s murder but never showed it fully. Also despite what hey all say in the film, they didnt have to kill her to get away, it was a stupid choice.
There was no one at all that you could trust in this film, not even Lawrence who turned up snarled then tracked him down then left.
I get he was in charge of tech but no way could he get around some parts of the worlds that quickly without picking up a few more flags than he did.
See Hayfever is a huge issue peoples, massive issue.
& all the people that helped him along the way you knew once that scene was over they would never be talked about again. Especially that women with her chickens & turkeys that was a brilliant alarm system.
Basically this film they had a brilliant idea for, but that was all it was an idea. It never got past that point & it suffered because of it. If it had been braver & not as safe, wed be talking about this being a cool new spy film, but instead its bang average & doesnt give your the adrenaline rush we are expecting.
