2nd film of the day on double Thursday.
Since seeing Patrick (including all of the credits like all of them there were people starting to clean the cinema before i left the room) i then went for a walk to the i360 to look it the glistening sight of it in mid-flight before then walking back to the cinema, getting a coffee & writing my review for Adrift to post it (yes thats how long ago i saw this film apologies for the delay).
Screen 8 id say was 70% full by the time i walked in at 9:10 just before the trailers, & id say it got to 80% by the time the film started. Except for the irritating woman in front of me who sat there eating & drinking during the adverts & trailers & then when the limitless advert started asked her boyfriend to move so she could use the loo. She then missed the opening set up to the film & asked him questions for the next 5 minutes so much so that the the entire place was going shh at them. Then at the end she said she didnt get the film… Dafuq is wrong with the woman? Seriously? If you are that woman & you read my blog, please sort out your life i cant be dealing with that & your other half puts up alot of you crap as he was just like i will tell you later or we will miss something else. shes the type of cinema goer i hate.
Trailers we had almost the exact same as in Patrick. We didnt have Christopher Robin, but Ant Man instead oh yes, bring on August so angry america have had this for nearly a month already not fair.
& then the film started & minus the fully cute dog, see Patrick review below… ish ( didnt cry or get overly emotional).
I cant believe this happened in real life ish. thats amazing, to keep it going for 30 year every year during May thats fantastic. It makes me feel like me & my friends have let ourselves down though, this would so be the kinda thing we would or could do infact, when we next have our chat about our holiday before we go, im going to suggest we do this ish. It would be epic.
It was funny the entire way through a proper good laugh. Some of the plans to tag people were so ott it just made you go what, but then at the end when you see the real people do it you go oh man. So clever & stunning, especially when Renner was involved, because we all knew he was going to destroy the rest of them, but oh man he goes for it its brilliant.
The friendship group was so close & cool they all really did fit there part in the film & it really did work out quite well. But Isla Fisher out of all the people in the film stole the show. She was stunning & perfect. I recon im a little like that calm collected not really bothered & then the stakes change & suddenly im ridiculously competitive & will do anything for the win. She had the best one liners & just owned it.
It had some good life lessons too about the fact that one day you all just stop going out to play & that it goes. It teaches you about friendship no matter what age you are its important.
The girl from peaky blinder & the mummy that was the wallstreet journal reporter really is a bad actress isnt she. The only reason she was okayish in blinder was because of Cillian, everything else shes been in since shes been crap. So wooden. I know she was the outside looking in on all this, but Sam Rockwells Mrs in the film was more involved than she was & she was probably in it for 15 minutes. Its not that hard love.
It was so wacky & over the top but i think thats why it works yes it has some clever & caring points which it probably could have gone further on but lets be honest, im not here for a philosophical life lesson jsut one that tells me to bring out my inner 8 year old again.
Bottom line is this is a solid popcorn film for 100 minutes of your life. Its a real life story its original & you know its going to be mad & funny, so just sit back & enjoy it people. I promise you will be properly laughing at this.
