Once again time to see a modern classic for Cineworlds birthday. Today it is my 8th favourite film of all time… Hot Fuzz. 17 year old me didnt get to watch this at the cinema so now im living out my dream of final seeing it. Im secretly hoping we all at least go yarp & narp while we watch it.
The 7:30 monday night showing i am not joking was sold out. I arrived at about 7:40 & had to get someone to move their bag from my seat, all filled with millennials & older ready to watch this.
Trailers… Some weird film called Fantastic 4 no idea whos in that (bring it on, on thursday) The Naked Gun, Caught Stealing (first time ive seen the trailer for that) Together, & there was one more for another comedy film (it wasnt materialists, or freakier friday or nobody) was it downton? not that thats comedy oh well. ahhh ive remembered it later on while typing… its the roses, Coleman reminded me.
& then the film started… Well i think you know what im going to say. If you want more info click here & here. I also find it weird to review films like this here its like im breaking my own rules with the classics by talking about the film properly.
A sold out room filled with over 200 adults & the first greater good was met by a few people whispering it. By the time they are around that table at the castle everyone in the room as saying it & we were all laughing. Doesnt matter its almost 20 years later, thats what the effect of a good film has on people, it just works & we all had a blast. We also all shouted HAG when she got hit with the flower pot & cheered when they leapt in the pub shooting those guns. Respectfully obviously. We all knew by then we were all in the same boat, this isnt like some little family going to see minecraft & getting covered in popcorn.
Looking at some of that editing, it was way ahead of its time Edgar owned it, by god he did especially with the opening exposition & the journey up north where his phone (old school nokia brick) loses its signal.
My face hurt from smiling at it. I know it is one of my favourite films ever, but damn, its always better on the bigger screen. Especially as when you leave people are tellign others lore, i likes that, like it being Jackson or Blanchet or his mum. Its so good.
Its also very funny that Simon Pegg is now an action star in all the mission impossible films.
Watching the blood splatter from church rood on that big a screen was rather marvellous indeed & Leslie with her sheers.
Olivia Coleman saying nothing like a bit of girl on girl got one hell of a response. Oliva fricken Coleman.
Yea i could be here forever talking about this film. Yarp i could. This is why these film seasons are so important, they keep cinemas alive, we get to watch some classics & fave & we leave knowing weve had a bloody good night. Yarp we do.
I know love Hot Fuzz even more than i already did, which is actually quite hard to do.
