Well hes the last one on my supporting actor list for 2020 award season, so lets see if Hanks still has the magic shall we. Time to see how beautiful this really is.

Screen 8 when i got there a good 5 mins before the adverts, there was someone in my seat… I was not happy. Seriously what the hell, i must of looked really pissed off when i got in there. Over all id say there was about 40 people in that screen so about 40% full. I think i was the youngest person there if im honest.

Trailers were Dark Water, Birds of Prey, Parasite, Emma & Military Wives. What an odd bunch that all is, really odd. Dark Waters does look good. & i cant wait for parasite which i wont get to see until after its picked up some oscars now.

& then the film started… wow oh wow, now thats a film everyone needs to see, but it does need to come with a health warning.

Can we just give Tom Hanks every award possible right now. I mean i trust that man with my life. Its almost the perfect performance, it really he. He is so kind & understanding & just everything you want a sweet Tom Hanks Character to be. I genuinely wanted to put my arms into the cinema screen & get a hug from him. There is a reason he is regarded as the greatest actor of all time & one of the best people in the world. Wow.

This isnt taking anything away from Matthew Rhys by the way, who was just on fire. His performance is a once in a lifetime too, its a shame hes not up for anything in award season right now. The way you gelt with him was very similar as he is the normal person in this as to how you feel in your own life.

I need to warn you about this. No one warned me, so this may very well be a spoiler bit for a Cinema Club Review, maybe the first one ever. Seriously people without knowing this you will be ruined. There is a bit quite a bit of the way through the film where Mr Rogers suggest he & Lloyd pause for a minutes silence to think of all those they have loved & lost & believe in & how they affect their lives. & the entire film basically stops for a minute…. & so do you & then you just hear the sniffing in the cinema & people wiping their eyes & you suddenly realise not only are the film characters doing this so is everyone in the screening. & that was it, i cried throughout the rest of the film. I just couldnt control it anymore & i properly fell apart thinking about all the people who are special to me in my life & who ive loved & lost. Its properly emotional, & you do need to know this happens before you see it otherwise you will just fall apart. Just one of the most moving bit of cinema ive seen in a long time.

The fourth walling was balanced too, whenever it happened was near to when they were doing the tv show so it was them talking to their audience on tv but they were actually talking to you. That was very clever & well done like that. & how the film was basically a long drawn out TV show was a clever way of doing it too. IT was one perspective of another perspective & i commend it for doing that.

All those little models too, im guessing that in the TV show that was cute & cool. I think that was my only downer about it. I am British. I didnt grow up with MR Rogers, so i dont know much about him or his TV show or anything so there were some bits which were a bit oh okay he did that did he fair enough. So thats my fault not the films.

The subway is emotional funny & awkward which is the perfect balance of real life. It is another stand out scene in the film, part of it is in the trailer too, so its not spoiling that for you, but just the reaction & that its everyone is just lovely.

There were some funny moment when you laugh too, its not all beautiful & emotional. The Piano bong, building the tent, the puppet. & the Dream Oh i loved that dream bit. Its a very different way to take the film but it completely works & i love the fact they do that.

At the end of the day though even though its all about Hanks right now, it shouldnt be, its Rhys story. He is the ordinary man who finds out the truth & goes from being cynical & mean to changing his life & finding meaning. He is the normal guy who finds out more about himself then he does Mr Rogers. Its about how we deal with obstacles against us & burdens of our lives & how we shouldnt let go of what’s important to us.

Its a really beautiful & thought out film. It really is. Everyone whos in it is proud to be apart of it. It made with love & joy & is a pleasure to watch. This may very go down as an all time classic for the performances in it. What a Joyous movie.
