We have jsut lost the disney quiz online, its been my worst quizzing week since the start of the first lockdown. Its not good so i need cheering up. Ready Player One is a little bit to long to watch so ive gone for Tag which is still available on Netflix, why the hell not. I really find this film funny & the fact it happened in real life is just amazing. So lets do this.

& for those asking, as ive had a few people recently request this, by clicking here you can see the original cinema club review to see how my opinions have changed. (spoiler it hasnt)

This is the perfect film to watch on an evening with a bowl of popcorn & not take it too seriously & just laugh & feel bloody happy about life, because lets be honest 1 month into our third lockdown, we need to smile, January has been long & cold.

I love the whole idea of this & how mad it is & the fact it does just work & people do think oh okay but then when they get it they completely understand it. Thats why its good the wall street journal is there with them to report on the story. I mean she doesnt have a bag with stuff in to change for a week, but beside that she just goes along with it all & gets the story done. I mean the actress isnt very good if im honest bur still shes what makes you remember that oh god this is real life happening.

I mean the film does take it to the extreme where people are setting up these mad ways of tagging one & other over the years & the traps & escapes but its just so good to watch that you do get drawn into it so much because you do just want them to complete the game & then keep it going. Its properly griping & laughable what they do.

In a lads lads lads film the star of the film is Isla Fisher… seriously watch this film & then tell me that shes not the person you a rooting for the most. She is amazing. She starts off all sweet & then is so mad & competitive its amazing. Properly stunning & owns the film from the moment she arrives to the moment she leaves.

Beijing Olympic & times zones isnt just a throw away comet i can tell you right now that the time in Beijing is 6:45am without having to google it ( i am now googling it & its 6:43am 2 mins out my bad just guess it was 11:45pm here). so yea thats not the odd part in the film.

I love how John Hamms character even when it goes to pot & hes tagging everyone & is playing the game is still the one who gets the job done & is super serious. Its brilliant & it fits that character so perfectly. In fact all of the characterisations are so believable that you would expect a group of friends to be that diverse into there 30s. & i love how we dont meet Renner until a while into the film & that hes just kick arse ninja basically.

I love the inner monologues too. What a brilliant way to see how they are all thinking that they are winning & then failing. Perfectly well edited together & at no point do you get bored of it at all, it just keeps it moving even in super slo mo.

When he beats him up dressed as the granny is my favourited part of the film from the moment he gets the tag in the scene before until the mall scene ends, its brilliant & i love the quick shots sharp editing & just the whole feel of the scene. ITs a scene with the less key characters in it but it think that makes it more impactful as its one on one & you think he may have a chance. Safe to say he does but its still fab, better than the AA meeting (minus the coffee) & the golf.

I mean the golf rehearsal dinner is fun too, its just a littler over the top with the traps, but i like the fact the invited the ex to distract them both. Very very clever film & all the side bits going on is brilliant.

I love that shes still banned from the bar years upon years later, thats amazing.

The final chase around the hospital as much as its sad as they know this is the last game of tag they will ever probably all play, its nice just to see them bond & rediscover that true friendship which kept them going for years. Its nice hes finally tagged too, but the fact they keep asking the doctors is this real is it a set up is brilliant.

We didnt need the miscarriage story & we didnt need the water boarding. Both of those bits felt like time filling in a film. However when hes threatening to wank over the teddy thats fine. I love how i draw the line with something’s but not others, does that make me fucked up?… probably.

Basically if you have 100mins spare on friday or saturday night before the world reopens up soon ( we are now in May i know we started this review in January) You couldnt go far wrong that with Tag. You will smile at the end & laugh throughout. A genuinely happy pop corn film with Doves, friendship & stupidity. Thats what we need right now people. Something to just make us smile.
