It is time…
This is the official reopening of cinemas. Tenet is the flare being launched into the skies to get everyone to safely return to the movies. The film that was number one on my hit list for the year, the film i had to see, the film out of my 5 most wanted should of been last for viewing but is actually second. This is going to be a mind bending experience & i can’t wait….
don’t worry the whole review won’t be backwards like the paragraph above, here’s what i really want to say, i just wanted to show off like Nolan does… now that ive found out how to do that. Could of been worse could of been all of it.

So 8pm on opening day at cineworld screen 2, perfect seat bang splat in the middle, couldnt really ask for more if im honest. A nice comfy reclining chair. & a socially distanced sell out i recon every row has at least three groups of people in it Id say there was at least 60 people in the screening of all different age groups. & they had it on every half an hour for the entire day so there was also a showing at 8:30, 9 & 9:30 still to come after mine. If they all had similar viewings like this, then it is the reopening of cinema.

Trailers we didnt have a reversing boat ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the hell where was it oh yeah im waiting to see it. We had Wonder Woman 84 the new one that came out last week, Kingsman, No Time to Die & Black Widow… oh yes yes yes to all of them bring them on but thats not why im here.

& then the film started… I think, did it start… this is going to be hard to type. I always try to not say anything spoiler ish in my cinema club reviews anyhow but even just thinking about what im going to type is hard. Basically Nolan has done a Nolan once again & knocked it out of the park…

So lets start off by saying that anyone who did get every single thing first time around who hadnt googled spoilers, or the plot, or worked on the film, is definitely lying to you. There were some point where i was sitting there going hang on go back a second Chris i need to hear or see that again. It didnt treat you like you were stupid, but the way it talked about the exposition the further you were down the film, it was talking to you like you knew it inside out, which is why you need a second viewing. i missed bit of it which i am sure i need to fully adjust & get a complete structure of it. especially with the mcguffin (item of interest {im not telling you what it actually is} you’ll know what i mean when you see it).

That being said the plot & what they were after was well planned & easy to follow. At the end of the day this is a very much human & people story which just happens to be based on inversion. Its very much caring about the people in it that the science behind it, and that makes it a good film at heart, then adding everything else on top of it makes it something special.

Everyones performances were just so charismatic & perfect & so well presented you could tell they wanted to make it something memorable. John David Washington really is the glue to the entire film, i know being a lead you have to be but he really did hold it all together & proved he is a stunning leading man in cinema. The fact he had to learn everything he acted forwards & backwards needs to be appreciated, that is hard to do with all those fights wow.

Pattison has also come of age & has finally becomes a leading man without all of that previous baggage he has around him, good on him , that must of been hard to shake off. But he nails it.

But its Branagh oh my its Branagh. Being british i think its built into your DNA to adore the man, but here oh i so wanted him to get his comeuppance every single time he was on the screen & i just wanted him dead & gone & just being fucked over. Now that is good acting. Some of what he did i didnt actually want to look at due to the threat he posed.

Can i say about the Sir Michael… well i am… the Sir Michael bit was bloody brilliant. Its only 4 minutes long but its what we needed to see & made it feel like a Nolan film & added a light tone.

It was only 2 days after seeing it when i went oh yeah thats where Arron Taylor-Johnson was i get it. I did sit there watching the credits going well where was he & then i realised my bad.

As i said that some of the stunts pulled off were amazing but some of those big explosions oooh man like you sat there going say what. I cant go into set pieces & when they happen its too much to talk about, like the fact you dont expect the opening scene to be that scene, i was expecting that about an hour into the film.

I want to go & live in a wind turbine, thats my idea of heaven.

& that is all i can say really without going into too much more detail, it really is. I wasnt going to do my whole review in reverse order by the way just to mess with your heads & my normal format but nah that opening paragraph to much you over is fine.

So has Nolan done it again? Yes! Will people go to see it once? Yes! Will They go back to see it to understand the exposition? Definitely! Has he saved Cinema? Hopefully i really really hope so! Will i be going back to see it at least once more? 1000% hell yes!

Its a lot of movie but its pace is perfect & yes okay some people may go why do you need to see a film twice to fully understand it, but i think thats the beauty of it, you are trying to keep up with everyone else in this film thats the point you are in on it & learning as you go like they are, hence when you see it again you get it.

For the people who still dont get Inceptions & didnt enjoy Interstellar this isnt one for you im afraid. But for every member of the IN NOLAN WE TRUST club get ready for an absolute masterpiece which will change cinema for the next 10 years. Its just WOW!!!
