This has only just come out & i know people want to watch it during award season so i will try not to spoil it for you all, but if something slips out my bad.

January 2nd 2022, 2nd Cumberbatch film of the year. I mean can you blame me, the man is amazing. So as we are now in award season, lets do this & lets watch The Power of the Dog & see if it is as intense & as stunning as people say it is.

So for those of you who are like ooh do i need to watch this for awards season, the answer is 100% yes. If you dont want to do all of award season before hand it is slow so maybe wait til afterwards.

So the first hour seemed really slow, not even the changing of chapters made it flow. It just crawled along & then hour 2, the intensity kicks in & you sit on the edge of your seat going what the hell & then go oh god at the end & its all just feels so good at the end. Yeah the second half & end payoff make up for the first hour you have to sit through.

Now as youve seen above & youve read on my other review, i believe the Cumberbatch to be rather fine & dashing & charming & handsome. Hes a bloody fantastic actor & for the majority of this film i spent most of the time wanting to punch him in the face & to not be such an evil miserable bastard. Thats how good an actor he is. The day before he was looking pretty with a load of cats & here hes being horrible to Kirsten Dunst & wanting to never see him again. I think Will Smith now has some competition.

Kirsten Dunst & Jesse Plemons were amazing. I know they are a couple in real life so that helps the chemistry. However when they were on their own & without each other in a scene they were brilliant. I mean her drinking everywhere & what the Cumberbatch made her become after the way he treated her & her son, was amazing. That was captured so effortlessly. Stunning.

The son was good too, but he started to come into his own with about 30mins to go, so it was hard to grow to his character. I mean he helped with the illusion of the Cumberbatch being evil & just being so stubborn & a dick. It made the ending even more of a pay off, so it did work. Also it explained some random science stuff that happened earlier in the film too.

Is Kirsten Dunst only allowed to call people in films Peter? Jumanji…. Spider Man… The Power of the Dog… just saying thats the hattrick.

I learnt alot about hides but not as much as i though. I guess im not cut out to be a cow girl am i.

I did see the dog in the hills, it wasnt just an illusion.

I know it was the attitudes at the time of some people but as a millennial some of the views some of them had (& real people at the time had) are now very suspect & uncomfortable to watch. I know thats the point & that was the attitude at the time, but its still dark.

When playing a song on the banjo sounds better than on the piano…

Im glad ive watched it & after the first hour i was glad it then picked itself up & got going & ended up being how it was & how intense it got. I would rate it higher if the first hour had been as good as the second, but im glad ive seen it. Its going to win quite a bit in award season, im sure of it.
