Spoilers

Time for some Colin Farrell, in the film he made in 2021, for 2022 which wont get any award coverage at all. Its time for After Yang which i can see on Now TV (see its not all about Joel & Ellie is it) while i still have the film package. Happy days i hope this is good.

I will mention spoilers about this, it came out in February last year & has been available via sky since July for free so youve all had a chance to watch it.

I like the whole life is passing you by & you are all a blip & small guest in this world kind of thing & it puts everything in perspective & how it does or doesnt effect the people in this film is really intriguing. I like how its dealt with & it feels calming & a serene way to deal with memories & what we store & whats important to us. I really got & felt that.

Colin Farrell fan club is sitting here going he should get an oscar for his body of work for the year, not just The Banshees (which now im writing this he didnt win). Another completely different performance by that man this year. He really is one of the best actors around & we dont give him enough kudos at all. How he starts of meh & by the end of it has grown as a character, man, husband & father. God hes good at acting.

The whole warranty thing is interesting. So often we all buy stuff & only take the first years warranty out or just do it for that time frame or if we do we then dont negotiate, why isnt it the same with AI going forward. Thats a very interesting & clever process to think of how we would deal with that in the future.

The memories of Yang as theirs & as the people before them are very moving & when you watch them back especially with the girl who was in love with him, its beautiful. It only records a small bit from each day, but its like they are his core memories, like we all have our favourite we go back to. It provides the conversation about AI being more than just an algorithm.

There are no words to adequately express the mysterious nature of tea…
Damn right.
I mean someone running a tea shop has got to be one of the moviest movie job of all but argh, that tea metaphor was like hang on is this genuinely a chat about tea or are we talking something more?

The AI body can decompose… ewwwwwwwwwwwwww i was like hang on why did they put it in flesh or something similar, surely if were doing this in the future they have found a better way to house their AI like they did Alicia Vikander in Ex-Machina. That freaked me out a little.

The idea of attachment & reliance is true to, its also interesting that this went for the woman being the main income provider too. & how she didnt feel more maternal because of her decision to do that & how the relationships still broke down due to part of the support network not always being there.

& then comes the in thing, yep even more in that AI…cloning. I mean i understand why the film did it but i was just like again, weve done this recently movie… please no. I mean i do get why it did it but i was like no.

So this is also all about privacy too. Is it right to invade other peoples lives & memories & get their information. ITs a really important question, especially with all the technology we use today. Anyone can type in 5 words on line & find out everything about you.

The cars & the voice notes & the way of life are something i can see us doing in the near future, it works very very well & all the blue & yellow lighting going on… it makes it dreamy & soothing to watch.

As far as a spectacle of a film is concerned, it dragged, but as far as a glimpse into the near future & how AI & technology is shaping our lives it was most enlightening. But at the end of the day, it reached its high with its line about Tea… that was perfect.
