Lets complete the Wallace & Gromit love shall we (actually thats a lie i’ve not seen a grand day out recently my bad guys), but anyhow lets do the last one… well we think it is apparently it maybe coming back for Christmas after this years bristol art trail.
Popcorn synopsis time for you all.
Wallace is now a baker delivering bread when one say on his round he drives past Piella who used to be the face of a bread company. He & Gromit save her & her dog fluffles from being eaten by a crocodile. Wallace then starts a relationship with Piella, & she starts to influence their life, including making them eat health & adding flowers everywhere & throwing out Gromits things, which Fluffles who fancies Gromit returns to him. One day Piella leaves her purse behind & Gromit is sent to return it, upon getting to her house, he finds her room where she ha a book. She is a serial killer & has been murdering bakers, Wallace is supposed to be her 13th (bakers dozen) victim. Gromit trys to warn Wallace but Wallace has got engaged to Piella. Knowing Gromit knows she says Gromit bit her & punishes him & trys to kill Wallace. Wallace is saved when she is hit by flour & is dumped on the spot. She returns a little later to apologise with a cake, but Fluffles isnt there. Gromit goes to find her but its a trap to stop him saving Wallace as the cake is a bomb. Gromit & Fluffles escape & stop the bomb from going off, but Piella is there to see that it happens. Piella ends up escaping on her hot air balloon she used to ride in the advert & Wallace has the bomb in his clothes, but Gromit uses the bread mix to protect him & save him. Piella as shes eaten to much bread sinks her balloon into the zoo for the crocodiles to eat her. Fluffles leaves Gromit leaving them both heart broken, but returns to him to join him & Wallace as the three of them drive off into the sun set delivering bread while listening to Puppy Love.
I mean its still bloody good & epic & how there do all this stuff with stop motion is amazing still. It really does bring me joy. Its british art & craftsmanship at its finest.
The montage of all of Wallace’s & Piella’s dates are brilliant, with it going from hot to steaming & the bread growing, its bloody hilarious. & what they actually do on all there dates is just brill too. Starting off innocent by feeding ducks, then the Venice scene in Wigan, the Tango & then Ghost which just goes wrong & i actually cry with laughter at that.
Gromits Music collection is good too, McFlee, Doggy Osmand, Who let the dogs out, proper blink & you miss them moments which are so small but so make it what we all adore.
Quick lad take the wheel… & he just passes Gromit the steering wheel to keep driving as the chase continues. I just love how kids watching that would even know its stupid, but it just works. That & the teacakes to slow the bike down.
Shout out to everyone’s favourite Villain Feathers McGraw whos in the final Zoo scene, thats proper nostalgia.
I love that Gromit is ageing, he now has to wear glasses to read his electronics for dogs. Its showing that hes grown old with us all too, everyone’s favourite dog is ageing a bit.
The getting up routine is a stable for the series & its just so nice to still see they still do that. It would be weird if there wasnt one wouldnt it.
There are so many hidden & in jokes in the scene where Wallace almost blows up. From Gromit going to check on fluffles with the F <3 G to the nuns dropping those kittens when his arse is on display. Its brilliant. Im not going to sit here & list them all as it will take longer than the actual film to go through them all. You can watch it in that time & find them for yourself.
Basically Wallace & Gromit is a british childs right of passage for growing up & a british institution. We need to keep these things going & show the future generations as to how good & clever it was. Netflix having all of them is a bloody good move by them.
