How had i not seen this film was what i asked myself in october & it was at that point i put it on my list to watch in the next 12 months & then it appeared on our film quiz list. Oh yea so we all sat around & watched it, weve got to win this quiz one day people we can do this.

So this film is top of the IMDB list as the greatest film of all time & in my defence i was concentrating on bits that i knew i would need for the quiz & was in a room full of people who were also having conversations over the top of me or were stating the obvious while watching, so i will need to watch this again to fully appreciate it all. But when it got to the end my friends were all like well we actually enjoyed that, it was pretty good. & then they all looked at me & went AND… So i replied with yea i can totally see why thats deemed the best movie of all time. & they all went wow.

It really is. Every situation in it is perfect. The chemistry. The style. The setting. The betrayal. It is stunning & i do just need to sit down one day with noone else around & watch it fully.

I nearly cried watching it in a room full of people. Its when the old guy kills himself as he cant cope with the outside world now hes free. That is such a sad 10mintue part of the film & when it ended i was trying so hard to keep it together that there was a huge sigh of relief from me & my friend sitting next to me went its okay, i felt that pain too. Those are the kinda friends you need people.

I love the cleverness of it all too. You have no idea whats happening at all & then it all just rounds itself off at the end so its all proved & shown to everyone of the decit & lies throughout & that he always knew he was getting out.

How long was he in solitary? For what felt like a year at one point. It was just forever. Those bits even though it wasnt for long in the time span of the film did seem to drag a little.

All my friends asked me if it takes me that long to do everyones taxes… i just laughed in their faces. No way is it that quick. That was there first issue though trusting him too much, big nono people dont do it.

I do kinda wish it ended on him walking up to that tree & not driving off to go find him. He just going to that tree & finding the box was all we needed. He didnt have to see him again.

The iconic bits are obviously iconic for a reason but when you actually see them in the context of the film you just go wow, oh wow. They are so impactful & beautiful that it really does make you think what a film this is.

Im going to stop typing because i want to concentrate on the story more the next time i watch it. So if you ever see a part 2 of this review get on it people, it will be so much more in detail than this one is.

We didnt win the quiz by the way. Turns out that maybe the last one we are at for a little while.
