Better late than never hay.

The new Blog has all Cinema Club Review now on here for forever so what a good time to hand out the 2018 Golden Corns for Film.

i went to the Cinema 80 times in the last year 80 thats stupid. I went to 8 film quizzes & visited a few film sets & have a few other cool film related bits happen to me over the last year. So lets get to it shall we & hand out these beasts. How many are their this year to present… 42. Hang on wait i’ve got 42 to type up in best, i should have just done 42 separate tweets about it oh man…. & i will put up my definitive list on here soon.

Small disclosure before we start there were films i only saw once so they dont count twice when writing out my lists in these. There are also films i had seen in previous years which were one of specials or viewings which obviously dont count to film of the year, because you know Elf would always win.

Right lets get to it. They arent going to type or award themselves are they So lets start with some self praise.

My Personal Film Moment of the Year…
No it wasnt me having in-depth film chats with Ali Plumb online, or nailing the movie news-round each month at our quiz,or getting a shout out from Duncan Jones or even keeping quiet about Infinity Wars when near my pops for a whole year ( i broke the news to him a few weeks ago omg the relief, hes still not seen the film). Nope my little review about Sherlock Gnomes being read out by Simon Mayo & Mark Kermode, made my little life & they agreed with my opinions on it. I can now officially retire. I’m not going to though.

The Best Performance in an Otherwise Crap Film…
Oh there were some crap films this year, but this man could have save it if he had more screen time & bad hair in it, it would of made it meh. Chris Pine in a Winkle in Time. Seriously its the first bad film i have seen the man in. Everything he does is stunning therefore he has to win this award.

The Film We Didnt Actually Need…
Simple answer & you will all agree.
Mamma Mia: Here we go Again… my my my what a waste of 2 hours of my life that was. Take the money get a restricted seat in london & what the actual show it will be a million times better then that film.

The Dullest Film of the Year…
There were some pretty dire & uneventful films o the year that could have won this, but the one that has won it is The Mercy which just almost made me fall asleep in screen 8 is was so dire. Which then nearly made me miss my next film in screen 8 that was a mad dash.

The Best Remake / Reboot Which isnt Directly a Sequel to Something Already…
Thats a long name for an award im sorry. Basically something where we know what the story will consist of but it doesnt directly follow on from something before. & this award goes to the film that im sad to say has missed out on this years top 10. Christopher Robin. What a film stunning heart warming tru & it made me cry & realise that Eeyore is my spirit animal.

The Film that i Liked that Noone Else in the Entire World Did…
Really obvious answer this one. Downsizing. Was i seriously the only person who got it. I absolutely loved it & think it was such a good film in so many respects. That mine to keep & all of yours to miss out on.

The Number of Films I Considered a Golden Buzzer Contender for Film of the Year…
13
Thats an awful lot of films it really is… which then leads onto the next award

Did I get 2018 Right….
Yes i did. only missed 4 of my chosen 31 films 2 didnt come out 1 was on netflix & the other didnt have a uk release so thats not really my fault is it. I even predicted the oscars correctly ha.

Best Ensemble Performance…
One winner anyone who says otherwise is wrong. Infinity War

Freebies & Gift of the Year…
My Infinity War posters from the odeon are just stunning. I love them & seriously its worth getting them framed at some point.

Performance by an Animal (in Honour of the Swan from Hot Fuzz)…
I cant say Niffler or Chief from Isle of Dogs can i darn it. I got in trouble last year for saying Paddington… Ok so its Patrick the Pug then from Patrick. What a cute dog.

Worst TV/DVD Film of the Year…
We’ve seen a lot of films we wouldnt normally watch this year due to our film quiz we now partake in ( still not won) so its been interesting but Passenger 57 was just meh & horrendous.

Best Film Genre of the Year…
Its bleeding obvious but if you were a super hero or villain you stole the show this year so well done lads & lasses. Pop-culture easter eggs gave it a little bit of nudge at times but nah you wore a cape you won.

Animated or Childrens Film of the Year…
If you had said to me this time last year that The Incredibles 2 wouldnt A) win this category or B) get into tmy top 10 films of the year I would have laughed you out of the building… Welldone Isle of Dogs, okay you are not a kids film but you are animated & that means you can win this award. Doggy treats all around.

The Film I will Never Look at in the Same Way Again Due to this year…
Often this is because of a disgraced actor or subject matter or something that unsettles me. So this year its shared between Coco & The Leisure Seeker. Both are based on a character with Dementia, which when i see these films in the future i will remember my Grandpa.

Miss-Sold Film That Was Not What They Told Me…
i didnt hand out a golden buzzer until after i saw this film as it was the film i was most looking forward to seeing this year & it let me down so much that i feel ashamed of it. Holmes & Watson. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH

Worst Cinema Film of the Year (The Burnt Corn) Award…
The Nutcracker & the Four Realms.
It was soooooooooooooooooo bad like i cant even…
Just avoid it nothing about it is any good at all. I wanted to scratch my eyes out & remove it from my memory after i had seen it. Avoid like the plague.

The Film I Didnt Get Around to Seeing…
I mentioned this a little bit earlier that i missed out on 4 films so the one i could see but didnt was Mute. Im sorry Duncan Jones i really am. Give your film a nation wide release next time not just in 5 cinemas & then on a streaming service that i have to pay extra for.

The Film i Most Need to See in 2019…
Saying Avengers 4 (now know as Endgame) is obvious & i have been obvious so far in all of this so heres something i never thought i would ever say… Hobbs & Shaw! I know WTF bring it on. Seriously cant wait.

Best Film Location ive Visited…
Harry Potter Studio Tours in London
It made me feel like i was 12 again it was stunning & i was just walking around like omg it really was magical. Acio Tea… oh that worked. Thanks Pops & Mama Popcorn for that epic Christmas pressie.

Quote of the Year…
One answer & its bleeding obvious…
I am Groot…. I am Steve Rodgers.

Best Sound Track of the Year…
& Best Song of the Year…
Are from the same film… The Greatest Showman & The Greatest Show
& there was a lot to pick between this year too there really was so for it to win both is an achievement, welldone to all who did soundtracks & music this year you all rocked it.

Cried when i Should Have…
The last 10 minutes & credits of Call Me By Your Name…
Seriously the cinema sat there at the end after the credits for another 5 ish mins trying to compose themselves like the guy at the odeon was trying to get people to leave, & we were all just like give us a min were broken. I challenge anyone not to cry at that, its so sad & beautiful.

Cried when i Wasnt Supposed Too
The Equalizer 2 Reunion…
It was something just mentioned throughout the film that i thought oh okay they may go back to it, but when they did & it went over & above what i needed to & gave us the perfect Reunion it was too much for me. Lovely.

2018 Trailer…
Mary Poppins Return
The trailer makes me well us its stunning when she falls out of the sky.

2019 Trailer…
It was Dumbo for the same reason as Mary Poppins & then it happened. We got the trailer at Christmas for Avengers Endgame…. OMFG TAKE ME NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Person i Wanted to Punch in the Face… For Being Such a Convincing Bad Guy, but i Still Love Them Anyhow….
Daniel Kayulla for his performance in Widows….
Seriously watch it & tell me that you dont want that man to suffer, what a performance.

Best Performance by an Actor…
John Cho for Searching… …
Its my little secret film, but what a performance that is, seriously its stunning & compelling & sad & full of desperation & you just feel for the guy soooo much. HE basically does the whole film on his own too. What a performance.

Best Performance by an Actress…
Emily Blunt for A Quiet Place…
She may very well be in the enivable possition of having 2 best actress nominees at this years Oscars. I loved it & her & it was stunning.

The Film That Didnt Live Up to Everyone Elses Hype…
Crazy Rich Asians…
Seriously it was so up itself & made you feel really insignificant in your own poor life. The morals went that good & it was too overindulgent. Not for me.

The Film That Bettered The Hype & The Critics Approval…
Bohemian Rhapsody…
Aaaaaaiiiii Oh it was toe tapping & fun & sad & the right amount of light & shade & just hit the spot & ran with it.
Huge shout out to Black Panther though, which i nearly went for in this category, more for the way its changed cinema & films.

Surprise Film That You Should All Go & See As Soon As You Can…
Game Night…
Seriously its so funny, its really clever, its got good morals & its feel good & its got lots of twists & its core group of friends we all have kinda which we can all relate to. Seriously a very good film.

The Inspirational FUCK ME Thats Stunning Moment…
First Man…
That 360 shot after hes stood on the moon & it goes all the way around & has that reflection in his helmet. Brought me to tears it really did, as it did with Pops Popcorn too. Just so moving & so significant to life.

The Leonardo DiCaprio Award for Perseverance & Hard Work Award…
Ben Mendelsohn…
Seriously no one deserves this award more than this man. 3 stunning performances this year. The Darkest Hour, Ready Player One & Robin Hood. The best bad guy ever. If i need someone to be mean & moody i will hire Ben. Congratulations Sir. Christopher Nolan got it right all those years ago. He even upstage Tim Minchin the only time when watching Tim in Robin Hood where my head wasnt singing you dont eat pigs, was when he was being evil to him, which says a lot.

The Film That Hasnt Won Any Awards But Deserves a Fucking Award for being so Amazing & Epic…
Mission Impossible Fallout…
So much so that that im now going to watch all the previous ones. What a film, what action, what a set piece just amazing.

The Life Time Achievement Award…
Stan Lee…
Thankyou Stan for creating such a world. We will miss you forever. I’m sure you will continue to get tributes through next year in the MCU but you have created a world i am so invested in. Thank you.

I Stole the Show Award…
Alec Baldwin for BlakkKlansman…
The first 5 minutes of this film are just amazing & anyone who doesnt watch it going omg hasnt watched it with the correct intent. You’ve missed out on something quite special. He just makes the rest of the cinema year seem meh in that moment.
I am goign to shout out those disney princesses though in Ralph Breaks the Internet.

The Unsung Hero / Super Hero Award…
Anyone who portrayed a version of Spiderman…
Be it Tom Holland (i dont feel so good), or Tom Hardy as Venom the alter ego or any Spiderman in the SpiderVerse. You all rocked & to split you all apart would be outrageous. You all rocked it & i think you should all jointly share this award. I mean after all with grate power comes grate responsibility & you should all shine in that light.

DVD / TV Film of the Year…
Inception…
I saw this on DVD again in the summer for the 1000th time before a film quiz & its my favourite film of all time so of course it won. Seriously check it out if you havent its so worth your time.

Cinema Club Film of the Year Award…
Avengers Infinity War…
So this film comes second on my list for the year so wins the Cinema Club award. I still have not got over this film, how am i going to survive Endgame. Its going to be the death of me i know it.

& now the award you all want to know the winner of
THE WINNER OF THE GOLDEN BUZZER & THEREFORE POPCORN FOR ONE REVIEWS FILM OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR 2018 IS…
THE GREATEST SHOWMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its everything you ever want, its everything you’ll ever need & its here right in front of you… this is the film you wanna see.
Seriously its the best film of the year. I jokingly said after seeing it on the 3rd of January is it to early to hand out a golden buzzer & it ended up winning it. Im talking about it still now. It really is amazing.

& that is that my awards have been handed out thank you all so much for getting this far & reading all that. Its alot of typing but i feel it needed it. 2018 needed that amount of effort it was an amazing year for film.
Heres to 2019.

Footnote i wrote this at the end of 2018 its just taken me a long time to put it up on here especially with my move across.
