Bank holiday Monday let’s Film it up peoples. I’m not at the playoffs this weekend so I need to do something.
So 21 jump Street it is. My mum has actually come off the computer writing her play for school to watch this as she enjoyed 22 so much.
Basically Channing Tatum & Jonah Hill are the world’s worst police men & are sent undercover in highschool to find a new drug that the kids are oding on, and to try to not get expelled.
It’s one of these buddy action films that you know what’s going to happen before it even starts. But you are still dragged in h want then to do well.
Shout outs to Brie Larson & Dave Franco who are the teenagers in the film who help to cause all the trouble. They are really good & prove even then that they both have what it takes to be brilliant, which has now been proved.
This was still made a bit early in Tatum’s career so he’s not the good actor that he is now, at the time he is still there for the beef cake hot guy. Jonah is there for the brains & the credibility. He helps to start with by carrying Channing along but the more the film goes on the more you believe that this could actually work.
Now the bits you all want to read. The observations.
The explosions that don’t explode & then the chicken van that does & then the huge delayed fuck off one at the end. My mum was in hysterics & almost crying watching that.
When they trip on the drugs is brilliant especially when they try to sick them up & someone spots them. The fuck you to science the drama performance the relay race & then the sleeping it. Brilliant best triply but of a film for years well until 22 jump Street.
Johnny Depp is a fucking undercover cop gangster that’s brilliant didn’t see that coming at all. Brilliant twist. It’s also right that he does die with his partner to teach the guys a moral lesson before they save the world.
That party you knew that vase was going to get smashed there was never any real doubt was there. Why did they have to bribe there parents they were what mid 20s that’s ridiculous. They could have gotten away with it. Maybe not the drawings on the piccys & the coke but you know.
Peter Pan & that chase that leads to them being expelled oh god man.
When he gets his sick shot off is just so funny it’s also complete wrong & make me feel ill but it’s so funny.
They do have a point they never do say in films or movies all of the rights at the arrest… they do seriously. So it was nice at the end when they went through it in fall.
The best joke is the fact that the film takes the piss out of itself & Hollywood that they are just rehashing ideas that were good in the 70s & 80s that aren’t originals.
It’s a really good buddy action comedy & is makes you laugh from start to finish. I do have to say that 22 is better so I’m sure you will enjoy that once iv watched it again.
