Cornish mini break means I have brought some films with me. Mama has always said she’s wanted to watch this so that is what we are doing top loser time & madness bring it on. This maybe a film which may benefit from an old school popcorn synopsis if I’m honest. In case I don’t hi mi5, mi6, fbi & kgb. I am just reviewing a film I am not an extremist I am just typing about a British comedy film that happens to be about terrorist. Right we done can I type now.

One day Riz Ahmed is going to be nominated for an Oscar. He really will. & when he does & hes up there accepting it, i will sit there full of pride & i will scream that man blew up boots dressed as the Honey Monster after singing Toploader in the back of a van. Its clear from this film that he is destined to do great things going forward & he is the heart & soul of this film throughout.
Side note…. i wrote that paragraph when i started doing this review back in August last year & now Riz is up for an oscar (he probably wont win unfortunately) but i am so proud & when it was announce he was nominated i did scream omg hes bloody done it.

I mean the film is bloody funny, but the fact that when they drive to london to blow up the marathon they start of listening to their cultural music & then they end up with Dancing in the Moonlight blaring out like every good party ends up with. Its just brilliant & Brits just get that. I sit there just waiting for that bit from about 10mins before that moment happens.

I love that they are the worlds shitest terrorists, they really are. Especially Kayvan Novak, the cat that went to mosque, rumber rapids, prayer bears. Its brilliant. He is the reason they are so crap but his heart is pure & brilliant. Fuck Mini Babybells due to capitalism what a line. I love the fact that after all the heads & hearts thing Omar spends the last 15 minutes of the film trying to keep him alive so he doesnt blow up. Its so sweet.

Saying good bye to his wife is so sweet, & she just has to sit there as she is being asked about his brother by the police while he is bust saying he will miss her in code, so he doesnt get arrested. Its wonderful & so heart warming & you do sit there & feel sorry for them.

Telling his kid about what happened in Pakistan but saying it like its the lion king is brilliant. What a way to explain it & tell your kid thats whats going to happen & why you wont be around for a while lovely.

Using Puffin Party to talk about terrorist is so what bad terrorist would do. No one would ever think to go on there & look for that. Its the perfect plan.

I like that its a sly remark about his brother keeping his wife in a cupboard & then when he get arrested all of their wives while they are in a prayer group are locked in a cupboard like they are harry potter. Such a small comment that if you dont clock it first time round that entire scene isnt funny at all.

Blowing up the actual terrorist by mistake is funny. Blowing up the crow is brilliant. The Microwave on bonfire night epic. But carrying those explosives tripping & blowing up into a sheep is the funniest thing ever. & the fact it takes about 30seconds for them to suddenly go like holy shit thats gone wrong is brilliant. I mean the head falling out of a tree 2 days later is a bit extreme but the rest of that is just so funny, even the squat jogs. ITs just brilliant & i laugh uncontrollably.

Blowing up the mosque is like your in a fight with someone so to win you punch yourself in the face. A perfect metaphor but so well done on camera & the carnage afterward.

Going to buy the bleach over 10 years a at the same shop & basically using the same voice all the time. Oh wow.

did you all get the wrong end of the deal with your costumes.

I like that the Cumberbatch is the negotiator before he became the legend that he now is & that hes crap at it.

that student union council meeting thing is brilliant & is a brilliant way talking about how attitudes towards certain people are taken & how you would react. & also putting words in peoples mouths & denying exactly what you just said, that you become arrogant.

When you look back at phones 4 u, you think god that awkward, but phones 4 u were the worst shop ever. They really were that slow & stupid & did offer you everything & you were just like i do just want a phone where i can top up now hurry up please. The only good thing about them was that advert about being in a canoe.

I like the fact that he spend the whole film saying were not going to blow up a pharmacy & ends up blowing up in boots.

i love the early 00s throw backs to. You do just sit there & think oh wow yeah that was such a 00s thing & it just makes you smile.

boiling bleach in a chicken suit to stay protected brilliant.

moving your face quicker to stop CCTV seeing you is a brilliant thing to do.

This film i understand people dont like. & that people go you cant joke about terrorism & blowing yourself up. But we normally see the terrorist as the bad guy & see someone else be the hero & they just happen to be in their story instead. But this is all about there perspective & why they are doing what they decided to do be it for the right reasons or not. I mean it helps that they are so crap that you laugh through it. IF it had been a serious film you might not warm to them at all.

Its a really good film & does make you laugh from the start to the end credits roll. Especially with the line Only one sheep was harmed in the making of this film. I know you wont all like it but if you like British dark humour & dont take it at face value you will have a really good time watching this.
