Right DC its time to see if you can shake off your poor form of recent films, & see if you can get this right. Yes i know Batman is DC but as far as im concerned it gets a free pass due to how epic & different to anything in cinema they are (they are Nolan films too so you know).

First of all to the Odeon, please can we make sure that you actually have some staff around on a Friday afternoon, i saw 1 person, 1 that was it & they were running between the food sales & checking tickets, was a bit of a pain really. I mean as the box office was shut that was the only actual person you could buy a ticket from but still.

It was packed in screen 5 when i eventually got there, not as full as i would hope for a basic 5pm start, (you know guardians was packed) but still good.

The kids behind me where quite funny talking about the adverts & what they actually mean & what would happen if that was real life. That was funny thanks kids. (i say kids they were about 14).

Trailer wise was all your standard summer block busters still to come but there new versions of the trailers, so a new Mummy trailer which after seeing Tom Cruise on TV talk about it last night im getting tempted to watch. New Apes, New Transformers, New Baby Driver.

But the one that stood was the ridiculously long one for Dunkirk, saying that it is this weekend when it happened & then was all the trailers for it in one go & it went on for about 6 minutes. The kids behind me went oh look its Harry Styles we must see this now & when it finished went wow whens it out i really want to see that it looks epic. So i told them July 21st. One of them actually wrote in down in there diary to see it when they break up from school… my work here is done.

Film time DC over to you for Wonder Woman, & try not to fuck it up.

Actually it was pretty solid, really solid for an origins story. Good build up good premise to make you want to care about the characters & why they were there, a good starter for you. Why didnt the DC universe start with this & not man of steel etc. Would have got more people involved & not just a bit second rate to Marvel.

Gal Gadot was a god strong female leed in a genre mainly ruled by men & as a woman i appreciate that. She shows them all that i can be done well by everyone. It was a bit of a piss take that it was 1hour 10mins into the film before you actually see her in the proper wonder woman costume, i actually checked the time to see how long it had taken.

That being said however… I have never seen Chris Pine act so well in all my life. WOW!!!!! HE stole the show omg i was actually more invested in what happened to him & how he was going to get his point across than wonder woman. Which kind of defeats the point of my last paragraph. He made me well up at one point (no tears but close). But oh man he can act hes not just some pretty boy in space.

Some of the special effects & CGI & fights were amazing oh man, only issue a little bit dark, not like twisted dark, just lots of black & gray & fires burning & fog.

Supporting cast were good some good moments, Lucy Davis obviously who i spent the entire film going i know her who is she & then got home & went of course.

All this good stuff being aside, the ending let the film down & made the whole film kind of going against the main principles (which seems to be DC’s thing {superman murdering someone, batman using guns, dead shoot missing} you get my picture here right its not right). But yeah they did that again & ending which should have been really empowering for me as a female viewer with a female hero ended up making me think what noooo no no noooooooooooooooo. I didnt feel as empowered or as independent as i should have & that really hit me. After that the film the resolves itself but that was still bad, that the main set piece was just kinda urgh. It wasnt as bad as Assassins Creed ending lets say that

Also im not sure where her character goes from here, bit odd to do what they did.

It was a really good super hero film & a good one from DC again at last, they still have a lot to pick up from Marvel, but it starting to make some strides in the right way, just dont fuck it up with Justice League please. You’ve got everyone on your side for now (well until Spider man comes out in a couple of weeks).
