There are some times in life when you need a popcorn film thats going to be a bit meh to start your weekend off with, & this friday 4th August… its the turn of The Meg 2. So much so that i am going to get a bag of popcorn & i am going to watch it in screen X so its even more over the top than it should be. I mean its Jason Statham Vs Big Sharks again… its going to be batshit & im here for it

First of all the Wikipedia synopsis for this film was insane. Which im actually going to post bellow. This is genuinely the synopsis on opening day for the plot.

See insane. yea if that doesnt get your bum in a seat for this movie nothing will.

Also a huge shout out to my Cineworld in Brighton. The Meg 2 was only showing in screen X (but cheeky but i understand why) & so it was back to back to back to back. I saw the 6pm showing & they werent letting people in as they were still cleaning up from the last showing. I mean how jumpy were those people if you are still cleaning when the adverts are on. Good thing was i got to chat to Adam (so gutted hes not single) hes okay, he loved my mando tattoo. but yea good on them. They got us in there in time for the trailers. because you have to pay attention to the trailers at screen X because it gets you used to the 270 screens.

Age range was from 15 to 50 mainly male if im honest, but a few family & a few millennials like me just being odd like me.

Trailers… now when Equalizer 3 comes out in about a month am i going to hate McCall… because when the trailer came on i said quite loudly JUSTICE FOR DAVID CHRISTOPHER YORK! Yea my bad. The people the row in front turned around & i apologised. We also had trailers for Strays, Blue Beetle, Haunted Mansion & Dune 2 (AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH) DUNE 2, DUNE 2. I just keep freaking out when i see that trailer.

& then the film started… turns out that Wikipedia synopsis was actually very nice about the film… urgh

Lets talk positives first shall we.
So ive only ever seen the first film in the cinema so i didnt remember all of his mated & people along for the journey & who survived. But one of his mates had one hell of a character development off screen & was the only character that didnt piss me off once in the film. Well done movie. So often especially at the moment (looking at you fast X mainly) the side kick is left on the side. This gave them purpose & it was good to see. I want that in a film like that i really appreciated it.

The best death was the couple on the peddlalow trying to peddle away. That was hilarious. I loved that. I know its kind of in the trailers but seeing that in screen X was hilarious. I loved it.

Jason Statham on a Jet Ski Vs Megs is cool too.

& thats my main positives from the film.

It lost all of the charm the original had. I mean i get it the gag has been done & now theres more Megs (& something else) but it just lost all the fun of the original. It was made by numbers & it just even though i was expecting it to be meh, didnt hit any of the right real notes at all.

I get that he Megs are the villains, i do but the human villains were very boring & i didnt care about at all, so when things went down did i actually give a shit about betrayal, & disloyalty… nope i didnt. I need a better human villain im sorry but i do. Especially if you know me & know monster movies arent my biggest jam in the world. They irritate me a bit.

Ben Wheatley directed this??? What the actual Fuck?!?!? mate you direct so many cool cutting edge films, i hope you got paid a fortune for this, because the CGI was bad, the script was atrocious. I hope you got a good holiday filming this very warm.

Screen X does adds a little, but there are much bigger & better films to see on a 270 screen.

We also set it up for a meg 3… if its going to be as lackluster as that no thanks.

Also the comic con guy seriously….

& to come out after the submarine drama…. ahh

it was just a shambles im sorry it was. I tried to stay positive about it being Statham vs Sharks but it just was like nah not for me. Im sorry i did not enjoy this. not even screen x & my popcorn could get me through it. It just lacked so much. Sorry avoid it & just watch the trailer for the highlights.
