This film being out means a couple of things…
1) not having to see the trailer ever again
2) unhinged McAvoy
3) this time tomorrow i will be on a plane to Spain wooohooo
Yep Speak No Evil was always going to be the the film i saw before i went on holiday. So lets go to the 6pm showing & get slightly freaked out.
Screening was half full. I also picked a chair i could hide in from the horror if it got to much. Mainly people my age so in their 30s.
Trailers… The new Hugh grant horror looks bat shit but im down for it, The substance ( probably a no due to when im away) Never let go, Smile 2 (never seen the first one) & the terrifier double bill (okay so thats where the meme is from).
& then the film started… James McAvoy needs to be unhinged more often.
We still have a while until awards season, we really do, but when this man is snubbed, ill be sitting here quietly being angry. Oh well. Its a shame, the film really doesnt work without him at all. I needed a strong male lead. I do mean no offence to the rest of the cast & those kids were good too, especially that boy. But yea McAvoy was owning it & was so menacing & so disturbed & controlling . We need more of that please, its really not appreciated enough.
I love how it is so psychological until right at the end. It really has you thinking about how people manipulate you & how you are forced to do something & made to feel others. ITs very chilling & at points upsetting to watch.
I have since googled the original film. I did this when i got home. I can see why people of the original are very pissed off at the end & explains why there was 2 points in the film where someone went ahhh no when stuff happened as it didnt happen in the original. Its very weird to remake a film so close to the original coming out. Also to make a lock down film not in lock down too, was giving off those vibes except for the bit on holiday. The bit on holiday made me go ahhhhhhh i get me on that plane tomorrow.
Now spotting red flags is a thing, but theres so many in this film. Why didnt they notice half of them earlier before it then takes them that one time to leave & even then they muck up all the times they leave. I mean they had it coming. The reason they were holiday friends is cos you were on holiday peoples.
Poor vegetarian, bless them. Got to protect those animals. She should have really refused it all so much. My sister would have for sure.
Where did they charge there car up while on that farm? Seriously?! That was the thing i was most concerned about for the film. Because that car was a walking advert paying for the majority of the film. It really was.
This was once again a film with people with lots of lavish lifestyle choices & either jobs that dont pay or jobs they have just lost but they are still able to afford all that stuff. It gets on my nerves that stuff, like come on peoples. The rest of us cant live like that.
You just have that watch collection & no one has ever except the kids batted an eyelid at all? seriously.
The final show down did have me on the edge of my seat. I was sat there going how was it going to end. It feed the suspense for sure. Wed spent so long making it eery & then it got to those few moment & was like ahhh. But i am so glad someone in particular got the last say. They deserved it.
I now really want to watch the original now. I want to know if seeing this one first was a bad idea. But i had a enjoyable time, feeling stressed watching this. I know stress isnt really what you want before holiday, but i did & im glad ive seen it.
So whats now going to be the trailer that pisses me off?
