Its time for the Disney tent pole. The one that everyone for years had begged for the live action version. The one that started the house of mouse. Yet some how Snow White has arrived with so many controversies since its announcement & lack of press & promo, its limped into cinemas. How did you drop the ball with this disney. Im hoping this is good & well worth the time on my friday evening.

I picked the 6pm showing because lets be honest this is still a kids film & i wanted to see what families reactions were. I went opening day too. Screen 5 at the prime time for families after school & a bit of early tea was only half full. Hmmmm. Mainly families (always a bit weird being an odd one for that) but i had a whole row to myself. That shoudlnt happen for a family film on opening day.

Trailers, Stitch, Elio, Mine Craft, how to train your dragon & Thunderbolts. Im guessing the MCU is still technically family content despite the thunderbolts being bad guys. There was a like first experience for kids cinema too. Also no irritating unlimited advert as kids cant get a membership woohoo thank god.

& then the film started… It was just boring. Im so but it was.

We need disney to decide what they want to do with their live action films. Either change it up completely or keep it true to the original or if your going to adjust, do like you did to act 3 of the little mermaid, where that worked. Dont do this.

First they got rid of two iconic snow white songs. I get that disney want a best original song award again at the oscars & it was powerful but it wasnt the wishing well song was it.
Then they got rid of the prince so therefore could get rid of that song (which i think shouldnt have been the case its iconic old school disney). The love interest has much more of a part that the original prince, but it takes lots of circumstances for them to fall for each other. & he was very much cast with disney going right who looks the most like Jonathan Bailey that we can find on a budget. & they got this guy. HE was alright but still. Im not saying they needed a big name, but theres plenty of people that could have been cast in this role.

Rachel was the best part of this film. I get some of the heat online, but not enough that shes the only reason for this to fail. She sings & trys her best to carry all of the film, but the rest of it is so confused & faltering that shes struggling. Shed much prefer to be put back into a hunger games arena. She really can sing though.

If you cant say something nice dont say nothing at all… Gal Gadot… thats all. Painful, especially the song.

The magic mirror did look good, but after trappign chris pine to be the magic mirror in wish why the hell was he not the voice of the magic mirror it would have worked.

The Dwarves (disney call them that so im going with that) were badly animated. The woodland creatures were better than that for cgi if im honest. They looked so bad & the lions in the lion king had more emotion on their face, which is saying a lot. Yes a nice moment happened with one of them but it never covered the rest of it being so lacking. They were clearly an after thought to be in this film if im honest.

However the mine they work in… looked fucking fabulous. The budget went on those 3 minutes of the film. If disney are not planning on turning it into a ride, then they have missed a trick because i would ride the hell out of that.

Everything was shot with a yellow glaze over it, maybe it was to help with the cgi & amount of green screen & volume but it made the cottage & forest not look as idyllic as it should have been.

Disney this should have been your show piece. The thing that made you but this felt like something you had churned out to go straight onto disney plus. I looked at my watch 4 times while watching this & it didnt help that after the awakening (its snow white you know it happens) that we still had another 10 mins of the film to go. & what happened to the queen… urgh.

Yea this is one you all need to avoid because no one deserves to watch this. Or maybe go watch it & it will make you appreciate some of the live action disney films so much more.
Next time disney do this with muppets please.
