so Mrs Elvis… its your turn to tell your story about this. Its a meh saturday morning so lets have a look & see if this was worth the hype when other films couldnt promote themselves during the strike & you got exemption.
Well clearly people have watched Saltburn because people were there younger than me to watch this probably due to Jacob. & Im only the target audience because i film collect for award season, but the real target audience are those in their 50s & up there was a splatter of them but id say the next demographic was 20 to 25 year olds.
Trailers, Boys in the Boat, Poor things, Mean Girls & Madam web. The last one seamed a little bit random if im honest but im not going to complain. IT does look a bit weird though.
& then the film started… well that was a film that had so much promise & then didnt have an act 3 at all.
Yea i was watching this interested but it was constantly having you think oooh now what, oooh are we going to get really intense, what are we leading up to & then something happened & i was like ooooh act 3 here we go here comes the moment… & then the film fucking ended?! WHAT?! No no no you dont. I needed more. It just really disappointed me where it ended. I.. i … its been a while since ive seen this now as i edit this for posting but im still pissed off by that.
Im sure there are part of this that are really controversial & that some people would be gasping at it. YEs there are a lot of red flag issues for Elvis. HE was far too controlling in everything. It made me want to punch him & tell him the whole world didnt revolve around him & he needed to be nicer to his people & friends & his girl but i just knew that real Elvis probably did want complete control of everything. So so many red flags mate. I mean the fact hat you changed her style isnt good but the age gap& the whole treatment was just like urgh, not good.
Yea it then became very samey & just a little meh & then drama started going down & i thought we were going to get somewhere & get into some juice but no we didnt & i was like no you fucking dont do that to me. We needed to get deeper this was more about the styling & the people & what we thought we should know without it being epic acting they were both good but it just felt too slow & shallow at points & it made you lack a little bit. It was all about the show & not the substance of the film.
Some stunning costumes. Like i recognised some of them so well. I mean obviously you cant get the wedding one wrong can you it has to be on point. & she looked perfect. That hair was massive too.
Was Tarantino involved at one point? We had lots of foot shots in a 10minute section & i was just like hang on whats going down here.
I wanted to know more about what was in her head at point. Especially as Priscilla gave her blessing to this & its from her memoir. A few more indications to her own mental state at points & how alone she felt at times would have been good. For once narration would have really helped a film, but no we didnt do it.
There were points that despite its beautiful shooting it just wasnt well written & just felt disjointed.
Yea im not impressed with this. What we got wasnt what the trailers or the press tours had advertised. This was clearly style over substance & was more of an art passion project about the two of them & lacked any deapth at all. Even the red flags didnt make me feel anything until we chickened out of an act 3. This wont get the awards buzz everyone’s expecting unless its because its Elvis wife… Yeah i wont ever get those 2hours of my life back will i…
