Its Time
Time for our favourite little bear to return to the big screen & its kind of already to set up to fail as the second film is beloved by all (& Javi G) but i have faith little Paddington. You can do this. You really really can.
I went to the 6:10 showing which was quiet funny because all but my row was filled with families, but my row… all childless millennials all sitting there resinising. Yea it really was like that.
Trailers, Sonic, Moana, Wicked, We live in time & Captain America. Cool set of trailers.
& then the film started… PERFECT!
Now that word will upset people but let me explain why.
Paddington 2 is one of the greatest movies ever made. It really is. Unless Paddington in Peru was The Empire Strikes Back, it was never going to be as good as Paddington 2. So therefore i have marked this against the following criteria.
Did it make me smile…
Did it have jokes just for the adults…
Did it have good morals…
Was the script good…
Did it go full british…
Was Simon Farnaby in it…
The Answers…YES!!!!!
I cried. Obviously. I think thats a given now with out little bear. I knew it was going to make me cry too so i tried so so hard to not cry, but i couldnt hold it back.
Ben really has the softest voice ever. No one can ever voice him now. Hes perfect, the comedic timing & the softness & love. Voice acting really is a craft & he is so good.
Emily replacing Sally was only odd at the start but otherwise it she was really good. I love that the kids are still in it even though they are now in their late teens & 20s. Julie Walters doesnt get as much screen time as the rest of them, but she is still key.
I love how in all the films you really do need to pay attention to stuff, because any little thing you see could be very very helpful to something else later on in the film.
Antonio & Olivia are so good. A nice little song that Oliva gets to do as a nun is so funny & all of the different role Antonio plays is brilliant. So good. Some of the coolest back stories ever in this.
There are some very good cameos of people who have & havent been in these films before. All worthy of their time. We do need a Paddington 4 because we need Flo in this franchise.
Indiana Bloody Jones!!! Ahhhhhhhhh Loved it. It so worked. There were so many other films referenced in this it will require a rewatch.
I love that it shows that familys do change & grow but you are still a family no matter what, this is shown in so many respects.
Also please stay for the for the credits, because its iconic. I loved it.
My little row of millennials had the time of our lives. I loved every second & i need to see this film again like now.
This is a buzzer contender, this is a good start to the 4 weeks of madness in November. Lets hope they all own it (or at least next week does).
