Day two of back to back films in a row & today we are fully onto Horror yes we are. Im not sure my sanity is ready for this but we will try.

I have never ran to a cinema so quickly in all my life. & its a bloody good thing i did that too. Screen 8 is very very small & when i got there at 5:12 with adverts that started at 5:10 it was already a quarter full. By the time the moon man came on i would say there were 10 empty seats in there maximum, i actually think less. But i think this shows how word has got around about this horror film.

Thats part of the reason im here actually. One of my friends who adores horror films when i spoke to her the week before said that this was my kinda horror film & that i would completely get it & that i would enjoy it. So im here on her & empire magazines recommendation. If its not good both will be told how i feel about it.

Trailers were all for horror films, Doctor Sleep, Stories to read in the dark, & i cant remember what the other two were one was very jump scary though. I am however after months of moaning am glad that odeon have got rid of their jump scare before the film.

& then the film started… so lets go over the messages i sent to my friend who recommended it to me. I think my last one said does that make me a disturbed & troubled person for liking the film so much? her reply was actually it makes you more interesting & i cant wait to fully chat to you about it next week. I will leave my final message to her for the end of the review.

It was just AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! FOR MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but so so so SOOOOOOOOOOOOO worth it. Why i hadnt seen that sooner im kicking myself about that as i could of seen it twice now. Darn it.

Lets get the downers about the film out the way first shall we. It had one flaw it was a little too self-indulgent at times early on in the film. Too much lingering on certain things which was making you think the film was telling you we are arty & important & you should appreciate that first before anything else. & that did my head in for the first 70minutes but the remaining 80minutes it completed proved why that had happened & you know what it actually kind of worked in the end. Thats the one downfall & it did turn it around. Not many films can rescue themselves like that & i love that it did. & i think that was the overall message of the film & did that point to well.

We need to appreciate Florance Pughs performance, considering this time last year i had no idea who she was, she has now been the lead in two of the best films of the year. What an actress she is, she is going to go far & get an oscar soon (ive said it first you can quote me on that in 5 years times). We also need to praise Will Poulter for well just being Will Poulter in this film & Jack Raynor for being so obnoxious & weird through out. The Swedish guy who was the friend was good too, i was kinda routing for him throughout.

I like the random bits that are mentioned throughout which could easily be something that you dont pay attention to at all, & then later on they become so important to the plot of the film. For example the throw away line of are we all just going to ignore the fact theres a giant grizzly bear here. It got a laugh but so much about that whole scene which ended with that line was so important to the end of the film. It really did reward you for paying attention.

I have to say for a horror film i only completely freaked out & jumped twice through out it. ITs more psychological then full on horror which you all know i like. But i do think i laughed more at it then was frightened by it.

When it gets going there is no hiding that this is full on gory horrific omfg they didnt just do that horror. There will be some people who will actually probably pass out & have the same reactions as some of the character in the film when stuff happens. This isnt for the fainthearted & im pretty sure some of you who have seen the film & are reading this review are judging me a sick person for liking this.

why did none of the invited friend know what was going to happen? no forewarning at all. All a bit odd, i guessing none of them would have come to the event but you know.

People are saying the ending is very odd, but know i get it. I completely understand it & i think if you watch it properly you will get why its a bloody good ending & how that is the only way the film could end.

Well this isnt going to be everyones cup of tea, or drug or flower or any other references i can get into this. But it does now mean you can ay to your boyfriend whenever he goes a bit odd that you will go all midsommer on him & he will suddenly behave. It bloody brilliant. I have a feeling i will be thinking about this film for a while & will be talking about it to anyone brave enough to listen to me. Its worth the 2:30min run time it so is.

Lets end this with my last message to my friend shall we. I think its got to be up there as one of the films of the year… Its stunning. & on that note…
