Time for drama. This always just seems to be a meme & a joke before you even get to it, so im looking forward to seeing if what people have said about this film is true or if it is an over exaggeration. Im hoping everyone’s just gone to far & the whole meme thing is just out of context, if not its Adam Driver, he will at least own it right… right?
Screen 4 was half full which was pretty good. Id say mainly people my age. a male gay couple came & sat next to me in my row. I was shocked that there was many people above the age of 50.
Trailers, Heretic (probably)Joker 2 (yes)Juror 2(ooooh looks interesting) Gladiator (ahhhhhhhhhh) & Wicked(yes) so that was a very good set of trailers.
& then the film started… As a girl whos favourite film is Inception… WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST WATCH!?
Seriously. Like i love a twisty makes you think confusing film, but this. It was next level. The two guys next to me at one point when something happened were like well thats it this makes no sense now. 5 people i saw walk out of the cinema, which for a film which wasnt a surprise screening or horror is the most ive seen in a long time. It just….argh
This is part of the reason why (along with life being busy as it always is in October) that i havent posted this review. Cos its now been over a month & i still do not understand it like…
How was it just his & or her gift?
How did it work?
How did he get it? Then lose it then get it back with hardly any effort?
What did the bank have to do with it?
How did it then benefit others?
It was just a shambles.
Please explain what his power was? could he manipulate time? Could he just pause it? Also how did it help him build this future world & why was everyone else willing to just let this happen.
There was one good story about giving stuff back to the people & being a person who wanted their power & rightful place & to be recognised when they were always looked over, but that was like a side side side quest & then it ended very abruptly. Shai was decent.
I needed another 15 mins of exposition for this film to make sense. Like yes they made us sit there for a long time to try & understand, but it was like it skipped over the important information we needed. Even when we filled in the blanks it was like, yea but we only mentioned this dead character that yovue never seen twice & then they are important for the end of it all.
I was kept on my toes, due to the crazy nature & pacing of it all i didnt realise we were in act 3 until about 10mins before the end. He started giving that speech which they all felt meant one thing but didnt & i was like ahh so is this the end then? I guess it did keep me glued to it even though i had no idea was i was glued to.
The news people, they were weird too, so so weird. I didnt get that or the opening of all the people trying to get that bit of land to start with & why that whole show down was important.
There were also some parts that just dragged on far too long where you sat there going it this actually helping me understand? nope. Is it adding to the story no. I mean i get we celebrated that wedding but to have a full on part of Ben Hur or Gladiator happening in that while he was tripping was so so weird. Which then lead to a virginity being sold off that wasnt there? Can you see why this film pissed me off.
Some of the visuals were spectacular. There were moments of ooh i like that which was then met with some craziness in front of it.
Why was he the bloody narrator but not narrating?
Why was it in parts that werent coherent & made the film even more self absorbed than it was already?
& then the actual power material he uses which is a McGuffin but it isnt.
& a villain whos not a villain & people who are meh just being selfish wankers & Uperty?
Its been over a month now & im still angry & pissed off at this film. Yes films are an art form & one size doenst fit all, but this film, was over indulgent, over complicated & just well over. This film needed to do what the meme says & go back to the club like the pretty little girl it is & let random people in the audience ask Adam Driver questions.
A waste of over 2 hours of my life.
Also this review is more coherent than the film which says alot.
