Today is April 3rd… a normal day to most people but to Popcorn for One, its massive.

For the last 2 years both my films of the year, i have seen on April 3rd, first off it was Eddie the Eagle, & then last year it was Free Fire. Both tremendously epic movies for completely different reasons but both were recipients of the golden buzzer. So Isle of Dogs no pressure on you but you’ve got an awful lot to live up to here. Good luck.

A nice long walk along the beach followed by the cinema oh I do love those days.Screen 3 isn’t that big but I’d say it was nearly half full, which is pretty darn good.Trailers we had were solo which is out really soon. Little bit surprised we’ve not seen more from this if I’m honest… I’ll still go nah & go to watch it.We also had fantastic beasts part 2 which I was fan girling over. I’m off to Potter world next week so ekk. Erm there was love simon which someone I know saw as a preview a few weeks ago & loved it & there was 1 more film but I can’t think of what it was. Oh was it that weird witch thingy yea it was that. Nah ain’t seeing that.& then the film started. I’ll get the criticism out of the way First. This film is a PG. there’s mild violence which is cartoonish, there are a few distressing moments & there is no swearing. That being said do not take you child to see this if they are under 12. This is not a kids film. They will go what the hell is going on, what’s with all the writing & no subtitles & everything being in Japanese. It will go over their heads. If you have teenagers they may get it but they must love Wes Anderson to fully appreciate. But as their parent you will love it. Absolutely love it.
Its whacky, outthere, weird, sweet smart, funny, beautiful & charming. It was everything you would expect a Wes Anderson film to be.
The voice cast was absolutely amazing & you knew before those dogs opened there mouths who each dog was going to be. The animation as well on those dogs & those back drops & the way it was shoot, just added even more to it. It made it almost golden.
The story was brilliant as well. As much as i have said its a bit mad, its still quite simple. Dogs are ill put on an island 12 year old goes to find his pet dog. What more is there to love than that? The weird bits had their place & flash backs weren’t just for the hell of it. It was all put together really well so you kept being informed at the right time, but not over exposition. The subplots to were really clever & when it all came together was just like oh yes thats good.
That Oracle dog hahahahaahhahahahahah brilliant.
I love the fact that it says everyone in this film speaks there own native language, except the dogs barking will be translated into English. That got a laugh.
So did it live up to the hype of April 3rd… yea it did. You are really going to struggle to fins an animation as good as this in the next year (& thats with the Incredibles 2 coming out). A buzzer contender for sure.
Its just perfect go to see it people. Thats why i’v stopped typing i want you to see it & im really tempted to go again.
