Snow we had to get Snow didn’t we… fucked up all my cinema viewing at the end of last week as All news outlets said be home before 6:30pm or Your going to get stuck. We then being covered by the downs the harbor a major city & the sea saw enough in total to probably fill my car up with snow (except the Tuesday but we all knew that). The beast from the east wasn’t so epic, although when even I hear that all I can think of is a Russian version of Brock Lesner tossing my spirit animal AJ Styles around. So not so good.
Anyhow I digress. This weeks had piss poor film times too, so I’ve waited & waited & come to the decision that iv got to pay to see I, Tonya. Otherwise I’m never going to be able to see it. So I’m off to worthing to watch it. Should be fun apparently there are no adverts or trailers at all, which will be nice. Just got to get home from Brighton first then. So Cinema club is back after a ten day break.
So you know that be there bang on 8:50 for 8:52 start yea that didn’t happen. There was an Nation theater live screening going on which over run & then there was a q&a afterwards so it wasn’t until 9:05 we were allowed in & then even thought there was 27 of us all in our seats(I counted in the foyay by the way) we still had to wait for 9:15 for the film to start, which it did at least do.
Iv never ever had back & Center at the cinema ever & last night I did for the first time ever. Now that’s a hell of a view no wonder those seats are always gone. Properly good.
Then the film started & it was as mad & crazy & omg as I remember(ish I was about 2 or 3 when this all happened but have always been told about it). I loved it.
As I left the cinema to head back to my car the couple in front of me were busy debating did that All really happen nah it didn’t it couldn’t have. It’s fucking history people go home & google it. It actually happened you can watch that documentary. Argh .
Alison Janney does deserve her Oscar what a performance as her mum brilliant unrecognisable properly good. Margo wasn’t shit either a properly good she gave Frances a run for her money at that Oscar I will tell you that. & Sebastian Stan oh that man does things to me, less so with the bad 90s hair & rash combo but he still does. It’s those eyes & the puppy dog lost look. He was really good too. He had a harder job I think then everyone else.
Shame she didn’t learn all those stunts but but her actual skating is properly good. & the cgi when they were done to make it look like her was bloody good too.
It was really clever the documentary work with the actual story that was cool. Very cool. I liked the talking to the camera too in the real story & that ah well get back to that later. Very interesting way of telling it. & then with the real footage at the end.
That parrot is brilliant, haha.
It does freak me out that 90s films are now part of history & factual pieces what the hell. It can’t be it can’t be.
If you know the story you will really enjoy this film & want to go & look at it more. If you don’t go see it then google it & you’ll just sit there going shut this actually all really happened. Properly well acted shame it didn’t get much more recognition.
