My god thats a long title to write out ahhh fingers hurt.

Today should be beach cinema but by the looks of the weather theres a 50/50 chance it may not happen so i need to see another film this week. Hence i am at the odeon after work on a friday at the $:45 showing of horrible histories. Mama says her kids at school like them & that adults enjoy them too, so how bad can it be.

I think everyone was at the lion king if im honest. There was me & a family of 6 in screen 6 & that was it. Also it was well air conditioned in there too so that felt nice.

Trailers we had Play mobile(nah) Ugly Dolls(nah) Abominable(nah) & Angry Birds 2(nah) thanks kids films that all looks shite & horrific. You didnt even have a frozen or Shaun of the Sheep trailer for us booooooooooooo. Poor kids having to put up with films like that.

& then the film started… & i can see why kids love this i really can. Its everything they could want.

That doesnt mean it was any good tho, but we brits do this kinda stuff properly. When we know our films are a little bit crap but serve a purpose we nail that by going well lets have a bloody good go at it & give it charm & character so you dont just go what the hell have i watched. You actually sit there & laugh with it at itself.

It also is good in its primary job to educate you on the subject or Rome & Romans & Empires. I like the fact that theres the rat to explain stuff too. Hes a very clever tool to have. It gives you enough information to make kids if they really are intrigued to go home google & work out what the differences were.

Too much singing & like music video bits which were a bit crap. I know then kids are more likely to tell you what happened if its in a glitzy song, but it was a bit much when every 18minutes we have a 3 minute pop video. The dancing was cringe too.

Lee Mack talking about Rome was the highlight of the film every single time he did that i laughed. It was brilliant comic timing & should be applauded & for that he stole the show from Nick Frost. Altho any film in the world is made better when Dan Skinner (Angelos & his plastic bag) is in as Roman whos not very good.

Some of the actual proper acting names they got in this film too is nothing to be ashamed of. It obviously has pulling power which says alot about the tv show doesnt it.

We also need to talk about the sundial & the dog that licks & the followers they were all stand out moments in the film.

Its nothing to write home about if im honest. But if you have a kid whos into history & comedy this is a good starting block for them. Im not the target audience i admit, but it is something that will make you chuckle & you will come away going well at least it educated & had charm.
