Happy 20th birthday to everyone’s else’s favourite Potter film (not mine my bad) but what i didnt realise was that i went to see this on the actual day of the 20th anniversary, which was the last day my cinema was showing it. I only found that out in the morning.
So you can imagine my shock when i walked into screen 5 & there was like about 13 other people in there with me. All millennials & 1 family, but that shocked me a bit. Obviously everyone went at the weekend.
Trailers were all clever, Inside out 2, Deadpool, 90s season at cineworld, all the rereleased spidermen films that are happening this summer & there was one more trailer but i cant remember it. But there was minimal adverts. also kudos to the person who did the last advert as the studios tour in london, thanks for making me want to go there again.
& then the film started (after another retro bbfc sign)… Its still got it… Heres my actual review for it click here. Bloody hell my review style has changed a lot in a decade hasnt it. Also Spoilers incoming…
TURN TO PAGE 394 got a cheer in the room, which was good & then we all giggled.
When Harry conjures the Patronus & screams EXPECTO PATRONUM! the visuals & the score… i had goosebumps. It was fucking magical. Its been a while since ive felt like that at the cinema in such a way. It just worked so well. I was welling up.
Act 3 takes up a bloody long time in this film because it starts on the way to Hagrid’s the first time doesnt it. Also nice punch girl. Also we all need a time tuner for admin.
Why was i sitting there randomly finding Lupin hot? Ive never been attracted to Lupin either in the books or in the films & yet i was sitting there going damn.
When Ian Brown appeared someone went ahhhhhhh in my screening & then said I BLOODY TOLD YOU IT WAS HIM!
Why did no one notice Harry wasnt in the castle? Seriously. If you knew he wanted to go to Hogsmeade, youd keep better track of him wouldnt you.
Divination what a class… id want to be taught by Emma Thompson too.
Gary Oldman is in the film for all of 20minutes in total & he absolutely owns in. He really really does. I mean ive always known that, but he just is everything.
So does this now make this my favourite Harry Potter film… nah sorry im still a goblet girl. But damn it was stunning. Im glad ive finally got to see it on the big screen. & i solemnly swear that i am up to no good.
