Advances screen time & if the letterboxd Lee Pace hype isnt enough to get you excited for seeing Bodies Bodies Bodies, im not sure anything else will. Im looking forward to this is it isnt it a murder mystery night gone wrong, its got good potential & im hoping its properly dark & i light throughout.
Its mainly millennials & Gen Z here for this, which lets be honest is the demographic. So thats right well done peopels. Id say a third full, which is always reassuring too.
Trailers Beast (yes) Smile (maybe) Halloween (no) The lost King (oh god yes) Mission Impossible (yes) & Dont Worry Darling (ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh is it time yet)
& then the film started…So at the weekend i watched The Great Wall & proclaimed that was probably the worst film i would see this year, if it wasnt for Matt Damon & Pedro Pascal… Well its got a friend now… It cant even have their help. It was that bad.
I jumped once, seriously for a horror thats once & that was more to do with something funny than scary. At no point did i feel like watching through my hands or part looking at the screen if you get me. It just wasnt scary & tense or on edge. At no point was i worried about the hurricane either
& it was not funny. I might have gone hm hmmmm or ha once but i cant remember when. I didnt smile or happy happy feeling about even watching a black or twisted comedy, which is what i grew up on as a brit. It just didnt do it for me. Any jokes just felt cringe.
All the clichés that you expect in this kind of film were there, but not one of them was done correctly or right. It all just felt a little awkward & far to forced.
There was also not enough Lee Pace to steal the show either. I know that in a murder mystery horror comedy, not everyone can have lots of screen time but still. It was a waste of his talent to have him in that roll.
Oh god taking the piss out of podcasts, really were onto that stage now, urgh. I mean tiktok has a lot to answer for thanks to this film.
The game of Bodies Bodies Bodies is basically Vampire (thats what we call it in the uk) but ive never played it as an adult or intoxicated. But they dont play it very well do they nope, it falls to shambles even before round 2. I mean shit does go down, however even as mad teenagers we always got to at least round 5 of it.
You can tell films that are made in the pandemic. Everyone lives in a big house or how people have suddenly been left on there own. & you can also tell that it was like right weve got these people for 5 weeks quick lets make a film on a small a budget as possible.
When the film started to get interesting & i was like ahh what gonna happen next, it wrapped it up & i got very pissed off at this. I mean were finally down to something interesting & then you just end it. No film no. Bloody kop out. I needed to know what the consequences were, because no way were they going to be able to explain themselves out of this.
Yea it pissed me off. I wanted so much more from this on every single side. The best bit was some of the put downs of some people & a rush in the hurricane but other than that this is a waste of time. So to everyone thinking about seeing this, you can maybe its your thing, but it wasnt mine.
Avoid people, watch the great wall instead at least you get some smoulders.
