Its Bond Opening Night at midnight…. Exciting…. & being the good daughter that i am, im not seeing it til next Tuesday, as i am treating my parents to it as a thank you for all their help over the last couple of weeks with decorating, so instead of going to see that im going to go & see Annette at last. YAY!

Guilford’s been the closest place showing this film & they only had it on during the day & the saturday they had it on i was at a wedding so as much as i was actually closer to it then, be a bit rude to tell the family, im just going to go to the cinema & not have lunch… So my local cinema are showing it, so cheers to my boss for her voucher i got for my birthday last year, its another film on her. Also Awards season starts now as this won stuff at Cannes.

I had my favourite seat E1, a sofa all to myself very happy. There was a 3 in the row behind who watched 40mins then left weird, there was a 2 the other end of my row, there was a 3 the row in front & then the front row two other random ones. So thats not bad for a screening that pre pandemic would have 42 people inside it.

Trailers Dune (yes) No Time to Die (Tuesday) The French Dispatch (yes) & oh what was the last one arghhhhhh hang on 2 seconds ah the Last Dual & House of Gucci (extra Adam Driver selling {oh &yes to both}) sorry there was 2 more. All good all i cant wait to see.

& then the film started… bonkers…. absolutely completely bonkers, but in a really really good way. If you get it then you will go with it & just be like yessss. Maybe thats why those 3 people walked out of it, it just wasnt their bag.

I mean the intro is just one of those like oh wow moments where you know the film isnt serious & will be taking the micky out of itself but why try & give you the best story it can. As far a musicals with an opening number are concerned, thats up there with the best.

The only time the film takes itself seriously is at the end of the film, which i am now going to moan about & as to why its not the perfect film. After all youve been though in this weird film & trip, we arrive at a point at the film. A line is said which is a throw away line in one of the opening parts of the film & its said again at a certain point & it makes secen & you laugh & that is the point where the film should end with that moment. But it doesnt we have 2 more songs & a serious moment in the film after that throw away line & i thought that as i was laughing & the line came out of his mouth but no another 13mins of the film.

Adam, Marion & Simon are all so brilliant in this film. All of them. Adam has the most heavy lifting, but Simon when hes doing a little exposition & breaking the forth wall while conducting, is amazing i love that it really just flows & goes & is amazing. I laughed at that.

The visuals were all so cleverly chosen & enacted & just went with the bizarreness of the rest of it. The house they used, the boat, the different sets they used & their personas. It all just worked. The leaping to the news reports, wow. & then actual Baby Annette… well i will let you see it without saying anymore. If youve seen it you will get it.

I want Baby Annettes night light. It was beautiful before stuff happens. It really really was. I want one. I used to have a glitter lava lamp years ago which i only got rid of last year when it stopped working, it was the perfect wined down after a night out to help me get to sleep (putting one on my birthday list now).

All the songs were funny. I loved them & so was both stand up routines.

We kept looking at the pool which was long for no reason. I mean i know its LA but still it was too long.

Its going to be a film people wither get & go along with & have a blast like i did or that you hate & you go why have i wasted 2h20 of my life watching this, like those who walked out. I laughed & smiled throughout & really got it. Its just the drawn out ending & madness that doesnt make this perfect. I recommend you all go see it & then make up your own mid if you vibe with it or against it.
