Its time, time for Sir Danny & Alex to reunite & to tell another creepy arse zombie story for us all, just a while later. There are legacy sequels we need, those we dont & those that wont feel like thats what they are, which is what im hoping this is going to be.
I actually have today off, its Dads birthday, we went out of breakfast had yummy cake & chilled as a family & then have all gone to do our own stuff. Me air con at 5:20 pm perfect. I also found out cineworld do ice tea… happy bloody days.
There was about 20 people in my screening, 5:20 isnt exactly the best time to get to ta film is it. But id say it was mainly older people than me there, i didnt see anyone younger thats for sure.
Trailers, Weapons (looks so fricken good pedro why did you pull out of that film) Jurassic world (slut) The conjuring (nope) The black phone 2(ooooh that looks so good) & Megan 2.
& then the film started… well so far every film that been in my top 5 films for 2025 has been a buzzer contender, almost like i know what im talking about.
Can we give Ralph Finnes an oscar now for this, or do we wait for part 2 which im guessing he will be in even more. Because with out spoiling in the trailer made him look like one thing, but he wasnt that & i was so happy with that. Truly a remarkable performance for only 15 mins of screen time, that is what good acting is. Really wasnt expecting that at all.
I also was not expecting to cry watching it. There was a really a moment in the film that really got to me & was so beautiful. I heard a few other sniffs in the cinema too. It clearly got to a lot of people as well.
I love that the film is two acts. Its two stories. What your expected to be in life & what you actually are in life. I loved that. Both haunting & powerful in different ways.
All of the cast were good, Alfie for a first film owned it. Aaron was so complex but i expect so much more from him & then Jody, well shes always Jody & amazing isnt she. She never put a foot wrong. But the other people they meet on the way (not the monsters we will get to them) were also so well cast & was so right. Including the opening.
I love how we are just left by the rest of the world too to fend for ourselves thats amazing. That was actually very funny at times.
That bone temple was incredible, im guessing were seeing that a lot more in the next one, because fuck me, it was rather remarkable. Whoever designed that needs a bonus Sir Danny.
The Monsters were horrible. it got properly grim at points. Like some deaths & chases were edge of your seat you forget to breath moments. I also love how they used those rigs with the iphones to get some of the deaths filmed too. It was very clever. It didnt hold back in the horror of it all at points. There was beauty in one point to prove we are all still the same & a moment of calm &then the horror restarts again. I did have some friends though ask why they were naked all the time. I had no answer to that other then clothes had been destroyed over the last 20 years. The alpha was intimidating in a lot of ways, lets just say that.
So many people didnt realise this is part 1 of not just 2 but 3. yea that must have been so confusing why it ended so abruptly. I also love that part 2 comes out 28 weeks later, brilliant.
So how many americans were confused by the end & who that guy is meant to be. I mean some of it was self explanatory, but lets just say that if Jack pulls this off its going to be the best & most unhinged performance in all of cinema in part 2 & i cant wait for that.
After living through a pandemic, it puts things in perspective a little bit doesnt it. Its a little bit freakier to watch & deal with.
Yea im sold, this is a buzzer contender for sure. Bring on the next part in january. Sir Danny youve made another masterpiece. This is must watch if you think you can cope with it.
