Spoilers?
Don’t even really need to do a synopsis here either. All I need to say is that there on a mission from god, & that there cigarette lighter is broken. That’s it right…
Time for one of the all time greats to get the popcorn for one treatment lets see if i can do it justice… i doubt it. Its so Epic my Uncle has a dormant company named after them incase he ever needed it to do business from. Thats how cool the film is.
Synopsis is that Jake is now out of Prison for good behavior & his brother Elwood comes to pick him in the new bluesmobile. They go to the orphanage that raised them which i run by nuns (penguin) & find out its about to be sold unless they can settle the tax bill. After going to a Church run by James Brown, Jake sees the light & decides to put the blues band back together. The two of them start to drive across the country to find the band, while running into policemen & Nazi’s on the way. After convincing everyone they have to put on one last show after some help from other famous blues stars, & a few escapes after playing other peoples gigs they end up in Chicago to play a huge show with both the police, rival band & nazis after them. They end up after breaking into the show then breaking out of it again with the money for the tax bill. They get a record contract & make sure its paid to the rest of the band. Then after a run in with Jakes ex girlfriend, they make their way to the office of cook county to pay the bill, only to have the biggest police chase in cinema history. As they get their the bluesmobile dies on them & they get into the building to pay the bill on time, only ot be arrested by not just police but swat sas army & any other enforcers chicago has sent after them as the bill is paid. The Blues Band sing out the rest of their days singing in prisons.
How can you not like this film just based on the synopsis? I mean its just beautiful. Its just sooooooooooooooooooooo funny seriously every time you watch it i think you laugh more.
The musical cameos are just amazing. Seriously what a group of people to have in a film. I mentioned Brown was at Church running the service, but you have Franklin, Charles, Calloway (not so much a cameo an important part of the film), im not just going to list people. But it goes further than that. Spielberg is the tax guy at Cook County, Twiggy is in it too. & Carrie Fisher tries to kill them all the time. What a line up. It truly is & its only as an adult that you appreciate it as a kid you just laugh because your parents laugh.
The worlds greatest car chase, is the world greatest car chase it really is. I always smile & laugh from the moment they say & we are wearing sun glasses. Its just something that doent need explaining you just smile & laugh throughout & the love of said scene is just brilliant, especially as it ends with the death of the bluesmobile.
We also do need to give kudos to the mall chase as well, & the superglue on the breaks too of the van.
I do love the concert hall scene & everyone just happy to be singing & be back together & have a good time. It just sets you up for the madness on the way in the next 30minutes.
I cant believe they sent the swat sas & arm after them for breaking parole & not paying a driving fine. Its ridiculous, but its so them that of course that would happen.
I love how everyone just doesnt want to do this at all throughout the film & is just like nah not again thats not happening & they just reply back with but were doing it for the penguin, & were on a mission from god. & with that everyone just goes yes of course lads sign me up.
Its got a killer soundtrack obviously, that doesnt need to be argued about does it. We all agree its stunning.
I like his flat & that you just get used to the trains going past. & honestly they are bloody loud & obnoxious those trains but by the time said flat explodes you do get used to it & i love the fact they basically sleep through the whole thing.
Apart from the obvious lines which we do all quote there are some epic moment of comedy throughout which because we all know the film off by heart, you laugh before you get to said moment & just smile when it happens.
& with that im going to stop typing & find the film on sky cinema again to sit & laugh throughout. You dont need my review to tell you this is an all time great, youve already seen this film 1000 times & still love it to this day.
