A film that I probably would have never seen but had a slight interest in but decided to go & see it due to secret cinema being on the same night. There’s no point me going home to come back so let‘s make it a back to back.
The problem with these kinda films is there no real good trailer for a big film if you get me (except Dunkirk but I’m obsessed with Nolan anyhow & would see it what ever). There was a weird Brendan Gleason film about someone trying to save there sheed which through me a little as it was also involving will from w1a & there was a trailer for Churchill but not the one with Gary Oldman so will. E giving that a miss. & then there was my cousin Rachel which looks so odd & weird & I don’t know what to expect really.
I also lowered the average age in the cinema by about 10 years it wasn’t full & there was only one other young ish person there but even then I would say they were still older than me.
The film was very sweet & heart warming a proper rally together for a war film. Even though lots of the actors were people I watch a lot at no point did I think any of them would fit in a modern world.
Bill Nighy is just a legend I love him what a performance playing the sidedly has been actor who he kinda actually is really.
They make some good points about cinema too in the film & how we all still to this day fall into the same old traps.
There was one thing that I didn’t see coming & then when it actually did I cried. It was so shocking & Dad I felt like the characters that my heart had been pulled out of my chest & I would be robbed of my happy ending. I wasn’t I got the happy ending in the end.
It’s a really sweet little British film that won’t offend anyone really & is a good insight into the world then & how it effects now.
Iv just written this review while waiting for secret cinema to start here we go people one minute left
