Its very rare i got to a film based off one review i read from a film festival. I stumbled across it on Twitter where it said if you dont ache from laughing at this film, youve not laughed enough. & from that moment Hundreds of Beavers was on my radar & i thought i had a chance to see it a month ago, & then england qualified for the semi finals of the euros on the one day my local cinema was showing it, so i was gutted i missed it. But very randomly, my local cinema has put it on again on a sunday evening, so lets get to it & watch this batshit go down.
There was about 30 people in my local cinema for this. Mainly people my age in my section. Cant see the bellow part of the balcony. Also i dont go to my local cinema for ages & got 3 times in 5 days.
Trailers well it was the same set as friday, well what i saw it was (beetle juice2 & blink twice) because random roadworks delayed me getting to the cinema booo.
& then the film started… You will be happy to know my face ached at the end of the film.
I kind of dont want to write to much about this, mainly because i went in blind & i want you to go in & enjoy as much of it as you can if this is for you, but i also need to let you know some bits so then some of you can decide if this is for you or not.
First of all, its all but a silent movie. It starts off with a vocal song & about 5 lines are said in the entire film. So its the score & the acting that tells the story.
I loved the mix of the drawings & animation & then the actual actors. Those wolves were evil & Scary, but every other creature in it, i was not expecting at all. The Beavers, Rabbits, Racoons & Dogs, i was not expecting that when it first saw it & every time something like that popped up i was like ahhhh. You forgot about it & Then was like ooooh yes thats funny.
Any film about Cider gets an automatic half a star increase from me. It kind of was a McGuffin but wasnt. If i was honest after than the opening song & dance about it, i forgot about it until the last 5 minutes.
He really didnt learn any life lessons did he? As much as he picked up skills along the way, it was only to solve it to that point & nothing more so. I mean that trackers map he changed to something simple was just such a stupid move.
How many films have the title card at the point where act 3 starts in the film, seriously? Loved that though.
That Dam & how it was built & then what was actually inside it was rather spectacular i loved it. If that is what is in all of them then good on them.
There were lots of clues along the way as to how the final show down was going to go down & it was so cleverly put together.
This felt like if Monty Python started today this is the kind of film they would end up making.
If none of this has sold you as i dont want spoil it anymore for you, all im going to say was there was Sherlock & Watson Beavers, if that doesnt sell the movie nothing will.
This was Insane.
Batshit.
Stupid.
Ridiculous.
Hysterical.
Crazy.
Delusion.
Made no real sense.
Is this one of the films of the year… FUCK YES! I urge you all to go find this & laugh until your sides hurt, because i did. This is the most random Golden Buzzer Nominee ive ever had, but it Bloody deserves it.
