1999 season is in full swing, & im afraid to say this is the only official film ive seen from it. My bad. But i wanted to feel the sound & eeriness of it all. So lets do this.
So my row was empty. I booked my seat like 3 weeks ago. The only other people sitting in my row were two girls who had the 2 seats next to me. Like seriously… Why buy those seats? Anyhow, it was a right mix of ages in screen 6, id say mainly people my age. But a group of teens were in the row of front & 2 of them had never seen the film before.
Trailers, Trap, See no evil, the Blake lively film, & there was 1 more but i cant remember it (it wasn’t gladiator). Oooh it was Kneecap (probably not).
& then the film started… full review from the past is here & i mean if im watching this in the cinema & its an older film, then you know i want to see it on the big screen because its good. So SPOILERS!
So that group of teenagers in the row in front, one of them didnt know or work out the twist & was like ahhhhhhhh when it was revealed. Thats what these screenings are all about things like that happening. Everyone enjoyed hearing a few people in the cinema finding out he was dead all along.
This was all about the feel & the eeriness of the sound from the big screen. That score the wind, the noise feeling cold. Thats why i went to see this & i got goosebumps at times. It was so good to hear. Especially the little high pitched bits.
I always cry when he says that Grandma was proud of his Mum &she accept him & his gift. Gets me crying every time. Thats all i ever want someone to be of me proud & accept me. Thats all i crave. I know my family feel it but to be told it a bit more would be nice.
I get this film having grave yards, i really do. But for a kid who sees dead people, he spends lots of time at church & hes never seen like ever talking to any other ghosts in them at all even before hes interrupted by real people or Bruce. Its very odd. But hey at least the 90s didnt shove god down out throats like they would today.
Bruce is peak Bruce. I hope someone told him people were celebrating his performance 25 years later & that he was so on point throughout this film, because he was.
When the bodies hang in the school, that still freaks me out a lot. I always know its coming & then it does & im like ahhhhhh. Always gets me, & makes me jump.
Also a Wahlberg that isnt Markey Mark.
It stand the test of time. It really does. Its freaky but filled with love & at the end of the day is built on sorting out relationships you thought could have been lost. & obviously that plot twist at the end. Its just really really good. If you know someone whos not seen this film, get them to watch it & see if they can work it out early on or if they are shocked by the reveal please. & if you have seen it just go watch it again.
