Spoilers (unless you’ve read the book like me)

I do love a Holiday book me, this year I took 2 books I did gone girl in 4days & then got half way through Love Rosie before we got back. Usually then I forget about the book & don’t touch it again until the next holiday. But I really wanted to watch the film, so I kept reading, through the giggles & the tears. So then it was time for the film with the story fresh in my mind.

The character of the book was it was all letter notes and emails between the characters, which has been basically used as the dialogue, but i did miss some of that charm. It was used occasionally, which was nice but should have been used more.

Lilly Collins looked a bit wooden im afraid to say as Rosie, i didnt believe until the very end of the film, that her character loved Alex at all. Based on the book & the film she should have seemed more in love with him through out, not just the last 2mins of the film.

On the Other hand Sam Claflin, looked totally besotted by Rosie whenever he saw her, which is so correct. He nailed Alex completely which im glad about, hopefully he can get our of the hunger games type casting because of this.

Jamie Winstone’s Ruby was brilliant. That would so be me in any kinda film & i think is actually a bit me in real life. Just telling everyone to fuck off & get over it. Perfect. Stole the show at moments.

There were some things wrong though, which i know they cant always fit the whole book in, if they want to make a film & make them all 50 years old but still a couple of things i just was shouting no at when i saw them.

1) Its not Greg who gets her pregnant with Katie, its Brian who comes back to be responsible, one Rosie has divorced Greg for being a twat and cheating on her.

2) Alex Marries Sally & has a baby called Josh which was his, which doesnt happen in the film. No Art Gallery man, no not his baby.

3) Also it Alexs first marriage that Rosie is best man at, not his second to Bethany, and Alex also goes to her wedding to Greg.

4) He knew she was having Katie she couldnt keep it a secret.

5) Alex & Bethany do get married & have a child, not just a quick wedding.

6) Ruby didnt meet Rosie that way, and also didnt go dancing around the world.

7) Both Rosies parents die so she get the money from the house, and she was divorced to Greg at that time

8) Katie & Toby do realise they are in love but not until they are mid 20’s not 14 & not at Alexs wedding

9) You assume that its Alex that turns up at Rosies Hotel at the end of the film, but its not the opening day, and also the book never confirms it is him.

10) I didnt cry as much as when i read the book.

It is a really sweet and nice film, and i will watch it loads of time, but i do think the book is better, sorry peoples.
