Sir Ken is back again, more Poirot, more deaths. Happy days. This is a good Wednesday treat for sure hehe. Lets enjoy this & have a lot of fun & try not to hide behind the chair at the cinema.
A half full cinema was pretty decent it had been out for nearly a week too. I did lower the average age a little though which is always a little bit odd but you know. I know im not the main target audience for these.
Trailers, the old oak, dumb money (which was weird as id just seen that at an advanced preview) & i cant remember what he other two where, maybe Napoleon was in there.
& then the film started… & these still have a place in cinema but its not hitting all the right notes im afraid to say.
Maybe its the original story being predictable or maybe its just me picking stuff up really quickly but i worked out who did it & why quite early on. & then when it got to the reveal i was like oh okay tell me how i got that right sir Ken, i need to know i was correct. & obviously i was. So for those who hadnt worked it out was it clever? was it good? I mean when considering see how they run last year knew what it had to do & had a fun way of getting there, that owned it, this at points i was sitting there going come on Ken throw a twist please.
These were all people Sir Ken wanted to be in his film for sure. Michelle Yeoh getting her before her oscar win good man. Tina Faye, Jamie Dornan. All good shouts. All give a decent performance (along with the kid that was in belfast) but none did we spend enough time with for me to actually care about the characters. It was even less people than in the first 2 films, i thought wed get much more character development & ideas & theories with a smaller more intimate cast, who all wanted to work with Ken. But there were some which i hardly learnt about them at all. So when things were being accused i was like well i dont even remember who you are. Like when Jamie was on screen he was so good & he is such a good actor but no hes not given the time to show it.
The way the trailer was showing the movie i was expecting to be freaked out & there to be a few jumps scares or a few oh god moments. I jumped once. Urgh & that was when he bobbed for apples, that was it. I wasnt frighten or freaked out & i felt a little bit let down by that.
Sir ken had some lush cinematography going on as always. Its always so beautiful & pretty. It was magical. & some of those shots of Venice ahhhhhh. I want to go & watch that city sink (it is that true). Even the roof top scene to the way things were placed down. He owned the directing. & hes always a good actor.
The kids party was cool, i think that would be epic for Halloween.
I thought we were going to pick up on a few things that the last film mentioned but we only did one which was a shame.
I am now thinking looking back at the first 2 that i fin these films a little too easy & it takes my enjoyment out of them a little. because they are based on the originals which were written. Maybe if i didnt work it out by the 30min point id enjoy them more.
This isnt a rush to the cinema to see this movie, but if youve seen the others Ken has made, this is better than the one before it.
