Spoilers
I meant to watch this a week ago but it didnt & im now glad that was the case. But im here its friday night & im chatting to people online before twitter implodes (its still going atm just) so i though id put this on as background noise. Lets go see an animated Alice.
Yea the hell is this movie. What a trip that is. I mean i know its not meant to make sense thats the point, but nah that was even trippier than i remember. Oh god.
I mean the animation is beautiful & to create all of those different character & make them beautiful is stunning. Its really vibrant & lush & so out there, to do all that at the time must have been the height of technology & something so special & clever. It would have been applauded.
Alice never listened to anyone did she, she kind of got what she deserved at points. She was just in it for herself & didnt care who she upset along the way. She just was like oooh a rabbit is better than a book im off, oooh ill drink that, oooh ill ignore them, ooooh ill do this. Seriously girl no no no.
The Cheshire cat character in the film by a country mile. So clever so witty & turns up to cause chaos whenever he can. & what a smile he has i love him.
But we all know the stand out part of the film is the Mad hatters Tea Party, which me & my friends actually once hosted in our youth. Its so much fun… oh a very happy unbirthday to you by the way.
I love the half a cup of tea & the dormouse singing twinkle twinkle little bat. I love that its so sweet & out there.
Did we really have to spent a whole 5mins learning about the oysters & their naivety & being eaten. I mean it didnt help alice did it oh no, no it didnt, but we spend a good chunk of the film learning about that & its just weird.
The flower chorus, being bullies, yea i get that, but for a little girl it was a bit much. & no one in this world is actually much help to her at all.
Act 3 with the queen of hearts it suddenly remembers its got to tell a coherent story for everyone & get on with it all. & then it falls into boring predictableness & then its all a bloody dream… URGHHHHHHHHHH really film. I mean im sure childhood me thought that was amazing but adult me doesnt.
Its a weird film & im not sure i really got it as a child, but as an adult i do & i know those guys when they brought this to life must have been on some strong stuff. Its so out there, its madness. Im glad ive rewatched it tho.
& the reason for watching this was because we did an Alice in Wonderland scavenger hunt which was amazing in fancy dress. we came 37th out of at least 200 teams.
