Spoilers Its been almost a year now so…

My boss for my birthday back in October gave me a now tv stick with all of the movies on for a month, so now i no longer have disney plus, i think its time to plug it in to see if its worth my time.

Promising Young Woman has been on my watch list for a while, but wasnt on sky cinema when i still lived at home & then havent had the chance to view it until now, so its time to see how good this actually was.

Oh its good, its sooo sooooo sooooooooo good. I guess that probably makes me a bad person, but do i care nah i dont. It was amazingly cool & scary at the same time.

I mean we do have a girls code. If i walk home or we get split up or go separate ways on a night out we always let the group know that were okay or that we are home or that we are safe. Even at the grand age of 32 we still do that. This film highlights why we still need to do this & that in itself is still scary, i mean okay shes acting out revenge for her friend & what happened to her in an extreme way, but it proves a point.

Mulligan is bloody amazing. In every single scene of the film she is in (& those that she isnt in {we will get to that}) One of the best examples of her acting isnt just when shes pretending to be out of it to trick the meant, but its when she goes to see that dean at the college. & how that dean suddenly goes from oh i dont remember i have no recount of this, to then being all protective of her own daughter because she knows what men are like. That says a lot. I think people need to see this film just for that one scene. ITs about 15minutes & its amazing & it really does prove a point, it really does.

The whole pretending to be out of it to get the guy to take you home so then you can teach him a lesson on consent, that is clever, but it had better fucking work. Otherwise they will then just be a creep to the next girl too & as a girls code we dont want that. As someone whos been spiked on a night out & somehow got away with it apart from the 4 day hangover it gave me its not nice when that happens. I got bloody lucky, it could have been a lot worse.

Her parents i do get sit there & go you gotta get over this girl which does make some sense, however the fact that nothing really got resolved & its still an issue & shes trying to prove a point says a lot doesnt it. She was right to do what she did to prove that the guys were creeps & it was wrong. But a suit case was a bit like the hell. I know they want her to wort her life out but a bit more support would have been good.

Ryan seems like a good egg & you sit there & go oh okay she has found someone with no bullshit or crap & then when its revelled he was originally involved & then doesnt help at the end (again we will get to that) proves that even the best of intentions can turn out to be complete & utter dicks. & people wonder why im still single. I dont want to settle for some douche whos only in it for himself. I want something worth fighting for. I have a friend who had a boyfriend who we all thought was the best of man kind & he went & broke her heart & we basically told him that we were all routing for him & that man kind is now doomed as he mucked up our friends life. I dont have time for that in my life.

Going to visit her best friends mum was very moving, i loved that i really really did. Made me feel a little emotional, her telling her to let go & that she has & that they will always be there for each other. It was lovely. It was the support that she also kinda needed from her family but didnt get. Really does then put stuff into perspective for her.

However it is the entirety of Act three which is amazing. & if you dont think it is then maybe we cant be friends.
From finding out Ryan was involved
The black Mail
The stripper & drugging
The threat
Like all of that is epic & i sat on the edge of my seat going come on girl get your revenge lay the ghost to rest get it.
Also how as medical people did none of those people not realised they had been drugged before hand surely one would have worked it out.

& then the unthinkable happens. HE FUCKING KILLS HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I screamed at my TV NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO very VERY loudly. I mean it kinda had to go that way but oh my god they had the guts to do it & did it. I get that to start with that it was self defence, but she wasnt cutting his balls off. She picked the safest place to carve ninas name into him before hand & was going to do that. Surely as a doctor hed have known. but yea it just kept going & he killed her & then he had to sleep next to her dead body until his friends came & found him out of their drugged haze.

& then it gets worse when they just dispose of her body & are just like yea thats fine we can all do that. & that pissed me off so much so soooooooooooooo much. Once again the man wins & has all the power & gets to live his happy life & be all like yea nothing random happened.

& then the wedding happens & the grand revel happens which she had in place if she didnt come back & so much shit goes down & it is such a pay off & its amazing. I love how it also starts off with Ryan being worried & then everyone else getting arrested or chased. Amazing. That was such a yes fuck you moment. Seriously a movie wedding i dont think i will forget in a hurry. Absolute carnage i loved it.

I also love how she gets the last word too even dead, she gets that last pre sent text in. I do have a question how can you pre-send your texts? I have no idea how to do that, can someone tell me please.

Its just so well acted & filmed & has real moments of drama & oh fuck this to it. Seriously special & amazing. It is one of those films that lingers with you for a very long time.

So yea now TV is definitely worth it peoples. I know ive only got movies for a month, so lets move onto Wonder Woman 1984 next. More female power me thinks. (that part of this review hasnt aged well)

A Promising Young Woman was sensational & i will recommend it to the right people over time. You cant recommend it to those that will just sit there & not react, it needs that gut feeling inside to start a fire of hate. Its such a good film.
