Film time
Haven’t been to the odeon in a while (10 days) but it was time to get on a train, a train to take you far away, you don’t know where this train will take you… hang on that inception sorry.
Screen 7 was half full considering it’s on every hour this week that’s not bad at all really. If every showing of it is half full yay.
Trailers we had the Paddington compilation for Friday (need to watch number 1 First might do that later) then a new Darkest Hour come on Gary Oldman we can do this. Then it was some weird film about a guy retiring having an affair & then his ex wife Now living her life looked for a much older generation than mine. & then it was the greatest showman with Jackman & Efron & I think Jackman is the man who may give Oldman a run for his money this year.
& then the film started.
We all kinda know the story to it but I’d never seen any of the originals or read it so I had some recollection & obviously everyone knows the characters.
It was really really classy & calm & collected & full of suspense & a really enjoyable film. So much that when it finished I was going… that’s it oh man I want more.
Sir Ken oh Sir Ken yes my son get in there amazing acting delicious directing & massive moustache. He was brilliant in every respect & just worked it constantly.
It was nice to see Josh Gad in something that isn’t a comedy or a musical or he’s being what we expect I loved his performance stunning.
Michelle Phipher & Daisy Riddly too were on top form, really going for it & was invested in there story’s a lot.
Willam Defoe not so good. He did have a rather complex character to play & lots of different guises shame really. Think he did it as well as he could & not sure if anyone could have done it better than him. So in that respect the right choice I guess.
Can’t say anything about Johnny Depp it will give the film away.
The train & mountain that they built was brilliant it really was something spectacular & some of those shots were lush. It should be up for a cinematography award next year but it won’t win… Dunkirk will.
Action scenes weren’t that good but it didn’t really need to be it’s not that type of film.
Ending is well if you know you know if you don’t really know or can’t remember like me is a little disappointing clever but disappointing that’s not the films fault it’s Agatha’s fault. Sure back then it was all dramatic but now it’s just oh really. Very well staged but nah. It’s lost it’s glamour at that point.
That being said it didn’t bring the whole film down to being meh. I really enjoyed watching it & it will become a classic much like for original for years to come. Well acted well set & well directed.
Cheers my brave knight Sir Ken you didn’t balls it up.
